Prayer Guide 12 July 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
How thankful I am, Father, that You are patient with me, slow to anger and abounding in love. Forgive me for not treating others with this same gentle patience that You have shown me. Teach me to be gently patient with those You have placed in my life. I especially pray for… (Pause and pray for those that the Holy Spirit brings to mind, that you will increasingly walk alongside them, patiently).

Empower me, I pray, by Your Spirit, to be patient with everyone. Father, I confess that in many ways I’m impatient with You as well!

Forgive me for running out ahead of You and doing things in my own strength. Teach me to wait on You, and to walk in the way of Your Word as I do so. May Your name and renown be the desire of my heart in every situation that I face in my daily pilgrimage (Pause and consider the ways that you run ahead of the Lord and confess these things to Him).

Strengthen me to be patient in affliction – in trials of all kinds – and to persevere, so that I may be mature in Christ and complete, not lacking anything. I confess that I cannot do this in my own strength and ask that You empower me according to Your great might, so that I might have endurance and patience (Pause and submit the present trials in your life to Jesus asking Him to use them to make you more like Him).

Father, may I be one who waits patiently, as I hope for what I do not yet see in the circumstances and relationships of my life, knowing that all who wait for You are blessed. May I be patient and stand firm in my faith, for surely, Jesus’ coming is near. As I wait for Him, I pray that my life might be characterized by patient hope and endurance. For I know the day will come when I, along with all Your people will declare: “Surely this is our God, we trusted in Him and He saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in Him, let us rejoice and be glad!” May I be one who imitates those who through faith and patience inherits what has been promised.

And so this day, Father, I choose to wait for You, to trust in You, to hope in You, knowing that those who hope in You are not disappointed. Strengthen me to stand and wait patiently. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ who are waiting on You for an answer to prayer. May they be joyful in hope (Romans 12:12).

Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ who are in the midst of trials, temptations and afflictions of all kinds. May they be patient I pray, as they wait on You (Romans 12:12).

Father, may we not only love with the words that we say, but with actions and in truth, that our hearts might be continually at rest in Your presence (1 John 3:8-9).

Tuesday

Forgive us, Father, for any way that we live as if we are ashamed of the Gospel. May Your power, expressed in the Gospel, grab hold of our hearts once again and change the way that we live our lives (Romans 1:16)!

Restore life to the dead places of our hearts through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit! Revive and change us, Father! Wake us up from our slumber!

O God, our times are filled with such evil. May we, as Your people, be careful in the way that we live and wise in all that we do. Help us to make the most of every opportunity for the purposes of Your Kingdom (Ephesians 5:15-16).

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
O God, renew the way we think. Destroy worldly philosophies and standards that we’ve adopted as truth, instead of the standard of Your Word. Transform us from the inside out (Colossians 2:8; Romans 12:1-2)!

I ask Lord, that You give to us ‘godly sorrow’ that brings repentance and leaves no regret. May we no longer make excuses for our sin (‘I was brought-up this way…’ ‘My father was this way…’ ‘I’ve always been an angry person…’). Give us the gift of brokenness, humility and tears before You. Increase our hunger for holiness (2 Corinthians 7:10).

Father, I thank You, that You are our refuge and strength – ever present in every situation. Keep us from fear regardless of what we see around us – may our hearts be steadfast trusting in You (Psalm 46:1-3; 112:7)!

Give to us, I pray, a longing to be still and know that You are God. May we turn off the noise in our lives so that we can better hear Your voice and respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit (Psalm 46:10).

Thursday

Father, I ask that You would give to our community of faith, a new boldness in proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus. May all timidity, fear and unbelief be banished in Jesus name, and may we live as overcomers through the blood of the Lord Jesus and the words of our testimonies (Romans 10:9-10; 2 Timothy 1:7; Revelation 12:11).

Father, Your Word says that if one part of the body of Christ suffers, every part suffers. Teach us to walk alongside one another and bear each other’s burdens as a testimony of Your presence among us (1 Corinthians 12:26; Galatians 6:2).

Keep us I pray from holding onto burdens that You never intended us to carry. May we increasingly cast our cares on You, that we might be sustained (Psalm 55:22).

Friday

It is written that we should not “misuse the name of the Lord our God for You will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses Your name”. Father, in a world that continually swears by Your name without any thought, protect our hearts, minds and mouths by Your Holy Spirit, that we might honour Your name as we ought (Deuteronomy 5:11).

Father, may we truly hate what is evil and cling to what is good. Destroy every deed of darkness among us and may we put on the armour of light, clothing ourselves with Jesus only! Reveal the hidden things, Father! Purify us and make us holy (Romans 12:9; 13:12-14)!

I ask Lord, that Your perfect love would drive away all fear from our lives. I pray for my brothers and sisters who are struggling under a cloud of fear and anxiety. I ask in Jesus’ name that this heaviness be lifted. May their trust in You increase. Pour out your great love on them, I pray (1 John 4:18).

Saturday

As we come together to worship You, may we truly praise You with all our hearts among the nations and sing of You among the people! For great is Your love and faithfulness (Psalm 57:9-10)!

Father, I ask that Your glory spread over the face of the earth – over every nation and city, over the city of Bangkok (Psalm 57:11)!

Father, I pray that we will become the kind of worshipers that You are seeking, those who worship in spirit and in truth. Open the eyes of our hearts and reveal the hidden things. Show us Lord, show me, where I am still withholding my heart from You (John 4:23-24; Ephesians 1:18; Job 28:11; Psalm 51:6).

Father, prepare the hearts of Your people today to worship You tomorrow. Prepare my heart, I pray!

Anoint our pastor as he brings us Your Word. May we have ears to hear what the Holy Spirit says to us, and hearts that respond.
