Prayer Guide 15 March 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
How I thank You, Father, and praise Your holy name, for at just the right time, when I was still powerless in my sin, You sent Jesus to die for me! Thank You, for this demonstration of Your great love for me. Thank You Jesus, for obtaining my eternal redemption through Your shed blood on the cross and cleansing me from acts that lead to death. Because You willingly laid down Your life as a sacrifice for sin, my eternal destiny is secure! I’ve been made holy before the Father! Thank You Lord Jesus, that You have washed me and made me clean by Your shed blood on the cross, and have opened a new and living way through Your sacrifice so that I can draw near to God.

Forgive me, O forgive me I pray, for the times that I have yawned in the face of Your great sacrifice, and have allowed apathy to overtake my living…

Revive my heart again, I pray (Pause and pray).

Forgive me for calling You ‘Lord’ and then turning away to my own agenda and even returning to my sin… (Pause and confess.)

Give me a steadfast spirit, I pray.

Forgive me for the times that I call You ‘Saviour’ and then seek ways to save myself, to manipulate and control my circumstances… (Pause and pray.)

You alone are Lord, and I submit to Your will.

Have mercy on me Lord Jesus. Have mercy on me.

May the finished work of Your cross, the great love it represents, the freedom it provides, be ever-large before me and be burnt upon my daily living.

Capture my heart once again with the greatness and glory of the cross, until all that is dross in my life is consumed by You and my heart is set on passionately following after You! Teach me by Your Spirit, what it means to take up my cross and follow You, to deny myself and to save my life by losing it for Your sake, that You, Lord Jesus, the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world, might receive the reward for Your great suffering.

These things I pray in Your beautiful Name – the name of Jesus. Amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Father, I ask that we as Your people, might be increasingly known for our lavish love and forgiveness of one another. Keep us from pride that kills the work of Your Spirit and hardens our hearts to Your voice calling us to ‘run home’. Give to us, I pray, the gift of brokenness and repentance and clothe us in humility (Luke 15:11-32; 1 Peter 5:5).

Father, transform us by the renewing of our minds. May we become increasingly radical in our desire for holiness (Romans 12:1-2).

As we enter into deeper fellowship and community through the ministry of LIFE Groups, may we be unified by Your Spirit. I pray for my brothers and sisters, Father, and ask that they might be encouraged (Pray for those in your LIFE Group by name…).

Tuesday

Father, may we truly hate what is evil and cling to what is good. Destroy every deed of darkness among us, and may we put on the armour of light, clothing ourselves with Jesus only (Romans 12:9; 13:12-14)!

Ask God to give to each of us, creative ways to live out Jesus to our Thai neighbours and friends that in spite of language barriers, Jesus might be proclaimed. Pray that a Gospel witness will grow in your neighbourhood! Pray for divine appointments. Ask God to make us bold and ready to give the reason for the hope that we have, with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).

Ask God to pour-out His Spirit on His Church in the country that you are from. Pray that the message of the cross – salvation through Jesus only, will be preached with boldness, ushering in a great harvest.

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
Father, capture our hearts again with the mystery and greatness of the work of Christ on the cross for our sins. Destroy all lesser loves and idols in our lives and restore ‘first love passion’ for Jesus in our hearts – Revive us, I pray (Psalm 85:6)!

Remember us, O God, that we are Your people – the people of Your pasture and the flock under Your care. Gather us in Your arms and carry us close to Your heart I pray (Psalm 95:7; Isaiah 40:11). (Pause and pray for those among us who need to receive the embrace of their heavenly Father…)

I pray for those among our faith community who are wrestling through difficulties of all kinds, and ask that You give to them a sign of Your goodness that they might be helped and comforted (Psalm 86:17). (Pause and pray for those you know by name…)

Thursday

As a community of faith, may we increasingly be those who bless with our mouths, who seek and pursue peace with one another. May we love as brothers and be compassionate and humble towards one another (1 Peter 3:8-12).

Father, help us as Your people, to learn to walk humbly with You. Give us the gift of tears I pray as a sign that You are softening our hearts. Reveal to us, I pray, the things that keep us from truly drawing near to You (Psalm 119:2; Matthew 6:33).

Father, Your Word says that You have not given us a spirit of fear or timidity, but power, love and self-discipline
(2 Timothy 1:7). I ask in Jesus mighty name, that fear be crushed and put to death in the lives of my brothers and sisters at ECB. Replace timidity with holy boldness, I pray.

Friday

Father God, I ask that you empower and anoint those who are leading our Children and Youth. May the generations coming behind us be drawn closer to Jesus and strengthened to follow Him all the days of their lives (Pray for children, youth and leaders that you know by name).

You have said Lord, that You will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask – Father, I ask! Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit! Pour out Your Spirit on my brothers and sisters in Christ this day (Luke 11:11-13; Psalm 85:6; Romans 8:29)!

Pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ worldwide, who are facing persecution for their faith. Pray that the Church of Jesus will grow and expand in spite of those who come against it.

Saturday

Sponsor in our hearts through the Holy Spirit, praise and thanks to Your great name. Release joyful worship from our lips – may we truly glory in Your name and rejoice! In all things, at all times may we seek Your face and remember the wonderful things that You have done for us (Psalm 105:1-5). (Pause and praise God for who He is, and for all that He has done for you…)

May many be led to Jesus and Your love spread through the city of Bangkok through our lives. May Your favour rest upon us Lord. Establish the work of our hands (Psalm 127:1; Psalm 51:18; Psalm 90:17).

Father, may Your favour rest on our church community – establish the kingdom work of our hands I pray (Psalm 90:17)!

May each of us come before You tomorrow with songs of thanksgiving and joy! Pour out Your Spirit on us as we gather and change us into a people that is conformed to the image of Jesus!
