Prayer Guide 14 June 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
Quiet your heart before the Lord. Ask Him to give you His heart for His Church and the world around you.

Lord Jesus, while on earth, You prayed that those who followed You would be one as You and the Father are one, so that the world may believe in You. I confess that I do not understand this depth of unity and love that I am to have for my brothers and sisters in Christ, but I ask that You teach me by Your Spirit.

May I always conduct myself in a manner that is worthy of the Gospel of Christ and do all that is within my power to live in harmony with those in my faith community, that we might be unified under the banner of Jesus (Pause and thank God for the ECB community of faith. Pray for our pastors and those who lead our fellowship. Ask God to revive ECB – pray for fresh Spirit-life).

Help me to be sympathetic, compassionate and humble as we pilgrimage together. May I make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace, so that there may be no divisions among us and we might be united in mind and thought. Remind me often that in Christ, we who are many form one body and each of us belongs to all the others!

Keep me, I pray, from selfish ambition and looking out for my own interests. Give me faith-eyes to see all that You long to do among us, both now, and until Jesus comes. Empower me to build into those who will come after me, that the ministries of ECB might grow and prosper, bringing glory to Your name long after I am gone from the earth. Give me, I pray, a spiritual inheritance. Because of my life, may the imprint of Jesus be left on the generations that follows me!

May I be one who whole heartedly moves forward with my brothers and sisters into the next thing to which You have called us. May we be like-minded, one in spirit and purpose, looking out for the interests of one another.

Teach me, I pray, to give and serve joyfully, generously and sacrificially – not just out of my resources, but of my time and talents and my very life for the good of Your Church and Your Kingdom purposes.

I ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Father, fill us with fresh passion for You and a hunger for holiness, that we would truly become those who seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness. Reveal to us, I pray, the things that keep us from truly drawing near to You (Psalm 119:2; Matthew 6:33).

Renew our minds, I pray. May we as Your people turn from the philosophies and entertainment of the world and truly think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy – may this be the standard for what we allow into our minds and hearts (Philippians 4:8).

Tuesday

Father, You are our healer and I come to you on behalf of my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus who are suffering physically. May Your healing power be poured out on them I pray. Strengthen and renew them and may all sickness be gone in Jesus’ Name (Pray for those you know of by name…).

Father, I lift up to You, those in our fellowship who are struggling with doubt and unbelief and I ask in Jesus’ name that the enemy be pushed back. Strengthen them to fix their eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2; Mark 9:24).

I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ at ECB, that they be filled with joy and peace and overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Where there is depression or despair, discouragement or doubt, may it be dispelled in Jesus’ name and the encouragement of the Holy Spirit be poured out on their lives (Romans 15:13) (Pray for those you know by name).

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
Father, I ask that You breathe new Spirit-life into the ECB community of faith. May revival visitations of the Holy Spirit fall on us, changing and renewing us. May we not resist the Holy Spirit in any way (Ezekiel 37:5).

Strengthen us as Your people to serve. May there be no lack in any area of ministry at ECB but may we increasingly use the gifts that You have given us to serve one another. Build us up Father – strengthen us by the Holy Spirit, I pray (Pray for our worship teams, pastoral staff, LIFE Group & Oasis leaders, Student and Children’s workers, AD teachers…)!

Father, may we be devoted to one another in brotherly love and honour one another above ourselves. May our zeal in serving You never diminish. Strengthen those among us who have grown weary in doing what is good, to persevere with joy (Romans 12:10-11; Galatians 6:9).

Father, I ask that Your Word would dwell in us and be the only standard for our lives. May we overflow with Your Word (Colossians 3:16; 1:19-20).

Thursday

Fill us with fresh passion for You and a hunger for holiness, that we would truly become those who seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness (Psalm 119:2; Matthew 6:33).

Father, give us ‘God-sized’ dreams for the ministries that You wish to accomplish through us. Forgive our lack of faith, and embolden us to be risk-takers for the sake of Your Kingdom (Hebrews 11:1, 6)!

Father, You have said that the sacrifices that You are looking for are a broken spirit and contrite heart. Destroy pride among us, Lord, and give to us the gift of repentance, I pray (Psalm 51:16-17).

Give to us, I pray, a longing to be still and know that You are God. May we turn off the noise in our lives so that we can better hear Your voice and respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit (Psalm 46:10).

Friday

Keep us, I pray, from holding onto burdens that You never intended us to carry. May we increasingly cast our cares on You, that we might be sustained (Psalm 55:22).

Father, I thank You that You are our refuge and strength – ever present in every situation. Keep us from fear regardless of what we see around us, may our hearts be steadfast trusting in You (Psalm 46:1-3; 112:7)!

Keep us from turning away from You, Father. May we be steadfast. Revive us and restore us. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Make Your face shine on us, that the world may know that we are Yours (Psalm 81:18-19).

As a community of faith, may we increasingly be those who bless with our mouths, and who seek and pursue peace with one another. May we be compassionate and humble towards one another (1 Peter 3:8-12).

Saturday

Father, prepare the hearts of Your people today to worship You tomorrow. Prepare my heart I pray!

As we come together to worship You, may we truly praise You with all our hearts among the nations and sing of You among the people! For great is Your love and faithfulness and You are worthy of all our praise (Psalm 57:9-10)!

May each of us come before you tomorrow with songs of thanksgiving and joy! Pour out Your Spirit on us as we gather and change us into a people that is conformed to the image of Jesus!

May those who lead us in worship be empowered by Your Spirit, those who come tomorrow who do not yet know You, be drawn to You, and O God, pour out Your Holy Spirit on us! Renew us! Revive us! Change Us!
