Prayer Guide 28 June 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
Heavenly Father, You who are the giver of all true joy, I come to You now and I confess that apart from You there is no lasting joy in this life. You are the God of hope and only You can fill my heart with joy.

Father, Your Word says that the presence of joy in my life is an evidence of the fruit of the Holy Spirit and His ongoing work in my heart and life. I come to You, Father, as Your child, and ask that the presence and power of the Holy Spirit would increase in my life – that true joy would overflow from the depths of my being. Teach me, Lord, the way of delighting in You, rejoicing in You – for You have clothed me with Your garment of salvation and given me a robe of righteousness! Because of Jesus, my sin-debt is cancelled, my slate has been wiped clean (Pause and give thanks)!

May joy, and gladness in my salvation, overtake me! Where it is lacking, restore to me the joy of Your salvation. May I always give thanks to You. May I sing because of the glorious things You have done! May I shout aloud for joy because of Your greatness and because You are with me! As I sit at Your feet this moment, fill me with joy in Your presence. And as I arise from this place, help me I pray, to abide in Christ that my joy might be complete.

Thank You, Father, for the promise of Your Word, that the day is coming when everlasting joy will crown my head, gladness and joy will overtake me and all sorrow and sighing will be no more. (O Lord! Haste the day!) In the meantime, even when there is disappointment or sorrow in my life, may I be found rejoicing in You and Your faithful, unchanging love for me. Empower me by Your Spirit, to live joyfully even when I am faced with trials, realizing that every trial is an opportunity for me to become more like Jesus, witness Your glory and greatness and learn to trust You more! May it be true of me, Lord Jesus, that though I have not seen You, I love You, and though I cannot see You now, I believe in You and am filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy!

May this kind of joy be my strength this day for I ask these things in Your mighty name. Amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Father, may we become increasingly radical in getting rid of everything in our lives that keeps us from following You with all of our hearts (Hebrews 12:1-3) (Pause and ask the Holy Spirit to show you things that might be keeping you from following Jesus more wholeheartedly).

Help us to have mercy on those in our community of faith who are doubting and being tempted to turn back. May we increasingly encourage each other to press on in our pilgrimage with You (Jude 22).

Holy Spirit, teach us to be a community of faith that is devoted to prayer (Colossians 4:3).

Tuesday

Father, may we increasingly be those who forget what is behind us, and strain on towards what is ahead – the new thing that You have for us (Philippians 3:13).

As Your people, O God, may the fruit of the Spirit increasingly be seen in our lives. May love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control increasingly be evident among us in new, Holy Spirit-sponsored ways. Destroy the passions and desires of the sinful nature in each of us (Galatians 5:22-23).

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
Father, I ask in Jesus’ name, that You give us fresh understanding of the authority that we have because of the blood of the Lord Jesus and His finished work on the cross. May we, as Your people, walk as ‘more than conquerors’ (Psalm 44:5; Romans 8:37; Ephesians 6:10; Romans 12:21; 1 John 5:4; 2 Corinthians 6:7).

Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus who are still struggling under a load of guilt and shame. Remind them that You have removed their sin from them as far as the east is from the west! Silence the lies of the enemy in their lives and strengthen them to stand firm and be victorious, I pray (Romans 8:1; Psalm 103:12)!

It is written Father, “that godliness with contentment is great gain”. I ask in Jesus’ name, that godly character grow in each of us, and that our lives be marked by contentment in all circumstances (1 Peter 6:6; Philippians 4:11-13).

You have said, Lord, that Your house is to be a ‘house of prayer” for all nations. Father, teach us to pray at ECB, As we gather tonight for House of Prayer, teach us to pray in unity (Mark 11:17).

Thursday

Father, I pray for the men of our congregation and ask that they will be godly in their conduct and careful to guard their eyes, hearts and minds. May they be alert to the entrapments of the evil one (1 Peter 5:8).

Father, I pray that Your words be given to us, so that we might have greater boldness in making known the mystery of the gospel to those who are lost all around us (Ephesians 6:19) (Pray that the light of Jesus and the message of the Good News would come to each neighbourhood and business represented by the ECB community of faith. Pray for business men and women that you know by name).

Friday

Father, I declare Your Word over the city of Bangkok, that the earth is Yours, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it belong to You (Psalm 24:1)! Thailand belongs to You, Father! Bangkok is Yours, Father! And Thai people are Your inheritance! This day, I pray that Your name will be exalted in this nation. Pour out Your Holy Spirit and reveal Yourself to the hearts of the people of this country through dreams and visions, and through Your Church. Use us, I pray – use me, as a conduit of Your great love and compassion. May the love of Jesus be evident in my every word, in my countenance and actions. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit, I pray, and empower me to be salt and light in the midst of darkness. Lord Jesus, may You be exalted in this land! May You be glorified in this nation! For You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God – there is no other God besides You, and I ask these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

It is written that we should not “love the world or the things of the world’. Help us Lord! Increase our love for You, that everything else might diminish and Christ Jesus, increase (1 John 2:15)!

Saturday

Encourage and strengthen our pastors and fill them afresh with the Holy Spirit. Give them wisdom and discernment as they lead us and protect them from the evil one (James 3:17; John 17:15).

Heavenly Father, empower us by the Holy Spirit to walk in the light and be imitators of Christ (Colossians 2:13; 1 John 2:6; Ephesians 5:1).

Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus who struggle with English and ask that as they listen to Your Word tomorrow that it will be as if they are hearing it in their own language. May Your Word go forth in power and accomplish all that You intend in every heart.

May our times of personal and corporate worship be infused with fresh Spirit-life, I pray. May we worship You in spirit and in truth and give You the glory due Your name (John 4:23-24, Isaiah 29:13; Matthew 15:8) (Ask God to reveal to us in what ways we come near to Him with our lips – what we say or sing in His presence – but keep our hearts far from Him. Sit quietly and allow the Holy Spirit to show you these things…).
