Prayer Guide 13 December 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
Father, I acknowledge that wealth and honour come from You; You are the ruler of all things. In Your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. You are mighty and awesome, O God! There is none like You! You are great and Your name is powerful. Thank You for sending Jesus, the Word made flesh, Mighty God, in human likeness (Continue to praise God).

Father, I thank You for the promise of Your Word that with You, all things are possible – that You are with me and You are mighty to save! I believe this, O Lord, but there is still unbelief in my heart. Help me, I pray.

I ask Lord Jesus that You be mighty to save…

In the hidden recesses of my living where I have yet to be conformed to Your image O Christ – display Your mighty power (Pause and invite the work of the Holy Spirit into the areas of your life that He brings to mind)!

In the lives of friends and loved ones who have yet to know You, destroy the work of the evil one by Your mighty power, and draw them to Yourself.

In the midst of the brokenness of the world and the hopelessness of lives all around me, reveal Yourself as Mighty God, mighty to save – use me as Your messenger, I pray (Pause and pray for those you know, by name).

I know that You can do all things, that no plan of Yours can be thwarted, and that You are able to do even more than I can think to ask! And so, I confess with my mouth that in every situation that seeks to overwhelm me, my salvation depends on You. You are my Mighty Rock, my refuge. You are Mighty God, and I join in with all of heaven and proclaim:

“Holy, holy, holy are You Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!
You are worthy Lord Jesus, the Word made flesh, mighty to save,
the Lamb Who was slain – to receive power and wealth
and wisdom and strength, honour and glory and praise!”

In the Mighty name of Jesus, I affirm these things. Amen and amen!
1 Chronicles 29:12; Nehemiah 9:32; Jeremiah 10:6; Isaiah 63:1; Matthew 19:26; Zephaniah 3:17; Matthew 9:24; Job 42:2; Ephesians 3:20; Mark 14:36; Psalm 62:7; Revelation 4:8, 5:12

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Father, as we continue in this Advent season and celebrate the birth of Jesus, I ask that His glory be revealed in the nations of the world. You, who so loved the world that You gave Your only Son – have mercy, I pray. Pour out Your Spirit and draw the hearts of men and women to Yourself. As Your Church around the world prepares Advent celebrations and outreach events, may there be a great harvest of souls I pray! May the Gospel message go forth with power and the name of Jesus be exalted – for He is the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to You except through Him. I pray in His mighty name. Amen.

I ask, Father, that You grant our community of faith a fresh realization this Advent season of Your great and mighty power. Remind us all Lord, that with You, there is nothing that is impossible (Isaiah 9:6; John 10:30;
John 17:2;John 1:1-2; Matthew 28:16; Psalm 147:5; Luke 1:37)!

Tuesday

Father, protect us from the love of money. May we be increasingly content with what we have knowing that You will never leave us – that You are our help and we need not fear (Hebrews 13:5-6).

Jesus, You always had such great compassion on the crowds around You – may we Your people, feel the same for those we encounter and respond with love. May we be known for our acts of kindness and compassion (Mark 6:34).

May we be strong in You, Lord, and in Your mighty power, and put on the full armour that You have provided for us, that we may stand against the devil’s schemes (Ephesians 6:10-11).

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
As you pray, mention by name those from ECB who the Holy Spirit brings to mind.

Father, Your Word says that You are looking throughout the earth for those whose hearts are fully committed to You, to strengthen them. O God, may Your eyes rest on us! Purge all lesser loves from our lives, I pray, and may revival visitation of the Holy Spirit fall on us, that first-love passion for Jesus might be renewed in each of us. Revive us Father (2 Chronicles 16:9; Psalm 85:6)!

May we as Your people not be lacking in zeal, but may our spiritual fervour in serving You increase! Strengthen us, I pray, that we might be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer (Romans 12:10-11).

Father, Your Word says that You have not given us a spirit of fear or timidity, but power, love and self-discipline
(2 Timothy 1:7). I ask, in Jesus mighty name, that fear be crushed and put to death in the lives of my brothers and sisters at ECB. Replace timidity with holy boldness, I pray.

Thursday

Father, I praise and thank You for placing me here, in this neighbourhood, on this street, in this apartment/house. I acknowledge that Your plans and purposes for me are perfect, and that You have placed me here, that I might participate in Your plan for this neighbourhood. Open my eyes to see where You are at work, and help me to eagerly enter in, I pray. May Jesus be seen in me, the very light of His presence, in the way I acknowledge and greet others, and reach out to those around me. Father, may the presence and power of the Holy Spirit be poured out on my dwelling place, drawing those around me to Yourself. Open the eyes of the hearts of those I encounter and make them hungry to know You. I pray Your blessing over the street where I live (by name), and over the vendors where I purchase goods and food. Open blind eyes! Set captives free! May Jesus be revealed to the hearts of those all around me. I lift up those I know by name… Help me to minister Your love and compassion to all that I encounter. Use me, I pray, that my life might be woven into the grand tapestry of Your perfect plan for my neighbourhood and this city! In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Friday

Protect Your people from hollow and deceptive philosophies of the world. May we be dependent on Christ alone! Renew us from the inside out, may we think on only those things that are excellent and praiseworthy (Colossians 2:8; Philippians 4:8).

Father, I pray for those in our congregation who have unbelieving spouses, or prodigal children. I ask that you encourage them by Your Spirit. Strengthen them to live out Jesus in gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).

Ask God to pour out His Spirit on the Church of your home country. Pray that the Holy Spirit will revive the hearts of pastors and that His Word will go forth in power. Pray for a great spiritual harvest!

Saturday

Lord Jesus, be exalted among us as we gather and worship, as we meet in homes, at our places of work, school and play. Be exalted, be glorified in our conversations, in the choices that we make, and the places we go. Whether we eat or drink or whatever it is that we might do. May we always be mindful that we belong to You, and do it all for Your glory (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Father, I pray that we will become the kind of worshipers that You are seeking – those who worship in spirit and in truth. Open the eyes of our hearts and reveal the hidden things, for You have said that You desire truth in our inmost parts. Show us Lord, show me, where I am still withholding my heart from You (John 4:23-24; Ephesians 1:18; Job 28:11; Psalm 51:6).

May Your people rise up and be salt and light and the aroma of Christ. May tomorrow be a day of spiritual harvest (Psalm 24:1)!
