This week's Life Group Questions

  1. Read Luke 1:26-38.  What truths jump out at you as you listen?
  2. How would you have responded if you had been Mary?
  3. Imagine if Mary had refused to participate as God had planned.  What might have happened?
  4. Fear of God and fear of other things are different.  Explain.
  5.  â€œYou have found favor with God…”  Is that what God would say about your life?  Why or why not?
  6. Are you aware that “the Lord is with you” (v.28)?  What difference does that make?
  7. Mary was pregnant with Jesus only for 9 months and it changed her life forever.  Believers in Jesus have the Spirit of Jesus living in us forever.  How much does it matter?
  8. Do you expect to hear from God and be included in His work?
  9. In what ways are you unavailable to be included in the work of God?
  10. Is your faith in God a marketplace faith (for everyday use) or a cathedral faith (for church only)?
  11. Consider what this news did to Mary’s life.  Do you believe that God is safe?
  12. Have you received Jesus as Lord of your life or as your assistant when help is needed?
  13. Mary gave up her reputation through the stigma of being pregnant without being married.  What area(s) of your life are you reserving for yourself?
  14. Read vv.46-55. Notice Mary’s eventual response to this news.  In what ways do you notice and rejoice over the work of God in your life?
  15. Do you talk to God about what He is doing and what part He has for you?
  16. How should we pray right now as a group and for ECB?
