This week's Life Group Questions

  1. Read Isaiah 9:1-7 and John 1:1-5.  What truths jump out at you as you listen?
  2. What does Christmas mean to you?
  3. In general, Christmas gets a lot more attention than Easter?  Why is that?
  4. How do you think the world understands Christmas?
  5. What do you think Christmas means to God?
  6. During the Christmas season, what is your primary focus – i.e., what do you spend most of your time doing or thinking about?
  7. Even though the world does not receive Jesus (John 1:10-11), it is interesting that “lights” are a big part of all Christmas decorations everywhere.  What do you think this means for us and for the way the Church of Jesus (specifically ECB) might approach the world?
  8. Read 2 Corinthians 4:6. How has the Light of Jesus’ coming impacted your life?
  9. In what ways does the world see the Light of Jesus in you?  In what ways not?  What result of the Light is missing in your life?
  10. Read John 10:10.  Which of the results listed for the coming of the Light do you most need? (Forgiveness, Insight, Security / hope, Peace / assurance, Approval, Truth, or something else Jesus gives…)  Have you asked Jesus for this?
  11.  â€œSeeing the light” means responding to Who God is, living by what He says and discerning what God is doing.  Which of these three is most difficult for you?
  12. How should we pray right now as a group and for ECB?
