This week's Life Group Questions

1) Read John 20.  What thoughts or questions came to mind as the Word was read?
2) Where do you find yourself in this story?
3) Notice that the fear in v.19 so quickly changed to joy in v.20.  How do you think that happened?
4) Does it seem strange that it was after they saw Jesus’ wounds that their response was joy?
5) Jesus connects His peace to His sending here.  What does that mean?
6) Is it possible that we sometimes lack peace because we pay too much attention to our own lives?
7) Jesus’ Kingdom is opposite to the ways of the world in many things.  Talk about what it means to “lose your life to find your life”.
  • Give an example of a time when you put someone else’s needs before your own.
  • Give an example of how you have seen selflessness and Christlikeness in this group.
8) Gaining the peace of Jesus involves 1) a genuine encounter of our real selves with the real Jesus, 2) the filling of His Holy Spirit and 3) being in the world in imitation of Jesus.
  • Which of those three is a point of growth in you right now?
  • Which of those three is an area where you want Jesus to be at work?
9) Does our group focus more inwardly (on each other) or outwardly (on pre-Christians) or neither?  Explain.
  • How can we care more for one another?
  • How can we care more for our OIKOS (pre-Christians in our lives)?
10) How can we pray for ECB and for our group right now?
