3. GET DEEPER
A. Read 1 Peter 5:8-9 out loud. The Bible says that satan, which means “accuser,” wants you to be enslaved to shame to keep you distant from God and people. The apostle Peter warns us about it, and calls us to stand firm in the faith. What is one tactic that satan uses to enslave you to shame? Share with the group.
B. Jesus led Peter to address his shame by asking him to reassert three times his love for Jesus.
In a similar way Dr. Curt Thompson author of “The Soul of Shame”, says that if we want to break the power of satan and shame, we need to bring to light what is shaming us. Is there anything that God wants you to bring to light or confess right now?
__ No
__ Yes (Share with the group).
C. If you need to discuss some issues in private, feel free to talk to your Life group leader,
or contact our pastoral team. We are here to help you.
4. PRAYER
As we conclude this session, read the words of Titus 3:4-7 out loud. God loves you and wants you to trust in His love. Take time to pray together to invite God to work deeply in your heart.
a. Thank Jesus for loving you fully, even with the things you dislike about yourself.
b. Invite God to work in your heart and to let His grace free you from the power of shame.
