This week's Life Group Questions
1. Read 2 Timothy 3:14-17.
a. The Word of God is not just inspiring, it is inspired: God breathed out His Word and had it written down by about 40 different authors, to reveal Himself and His love to us. How does knowing that God is the ultimate Author impact your view of the Bible?
b. How has the Word of God been useful for you in these four areas that Paul mentions:
2. Because God is the Author, His Word has authority. When the Maker (Genesis 1:1) and Owner (Psalm 24:1) of heaven and earth speaks (His Word) it has authority over everything (e.g. our culture, our governments, our cities, our lives, our church), but it’s an authority that needs to be accepted. To what extent have you accepted the authority of God’s Word? What does this mean for your life?
3. Read Hebrews 4:12. The Word of God is alive and active and is packed with transformational power that touches the deepest parts of our emotional, spiritual and thought life. Share with each other how you have experienced this to be true in your life.
4. The Word of God has inherent life and power by which it changes us. But to release this transformational power we need to:
a. Read it.
b. Eat it (meditate on it; Psalm 1:1-3).
c. Believe it (Psalm 119:30; 1 Thessalonians 2:13).
d. Act on it (James 1:22; James 2:17).
Share with each other what place each of these four elements to release the transformational power of God’s Word have in your live. As you share, also highlight any reservations or hindrances you encounter in these areas.
5. Spend time as a group praising God for His Word and pray with and for each other, particularly focusing on the things that were just shared under question 4.
