In this study we learned that encountering Jesus as God and Savior requires that we overcome social, religious, and intellectual assumptions about who Jesus is. Then our hearts find freedom and purpose, and we become compelled to worship him with total allegiance. Let’s explore how this study connect with your life.

A. Which one of these obstacles did you have to overcome as you began following Jesus? Tell us about it. ___ Expectations: I had negative ideas about Christians, Christianity, or Jesus.

A. Read out loud the words of Jesus which he spoke to the apostles.  

Luke 24:25-27
 
25 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken!  
27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
 
Luke 6:46  
46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
 
John 20:27-29  
 
27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” 28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
 
B. How do these words of Jesus speak to you?

  1. GROUP PRAYER 

A. Thank Jesus for loving you so much as to leave his glory and majesty to die on the cross for you.
B. Invite Jesus to help you grow in understanding and clarify any doubts that are holding you back.  
C. Tell Jesus that you acknowledge him as your Lord, and that you will submit to his authority.
D. If you have never asked Jesus to be your Savior, ask Him to save you today. He is awaiting.
