In this study we learned that the Holy Spirit wants us to encounter Him as the Spirit of Truth. He desires to free us from deception, fear, and shame. Let’s explore how this study connects with your life.

2. APPLICATION

A. Which one of these three obstacles to intimacy with the Holy Spirit do you struggle with the most?

___ Lies: Sometimes I lie about things in my life or in my work context.
___ Secrets: There are shameful things in my life that I have not brought to the light.  
___ Blind Spots: When confronted with my shortcomings I react defensively or in denial.
___ Pride: I struggle admitting the truth because I am afraid of the outcome.

B.  Are you currently experiencing any of these symptoms?

A. Which one of these fears is keeping you from experiencing intimacy with the Holy Spirit?

4. GROUP PRAYER:

Holy Spirit,

a. Thank You for loving me and inviting me to encounter You in deeper ways.
b. I invite You to heal those places in my life where I am controlled by shame, fear, and pride.
c. Today, I renounce the fear of (rejection/abandonment/future/hell) and commit to trusting You fully.
d. Today, I confess my pride and renounce it. I humble myself before You and ask You to help me see the truth in the areas where I have been turning a blind eye and a deaf ear.
