This week's Life Group Questions

1. Read Mark 4:1-16. Jesus uses seed and soil as an illustration to explain the different responses of people to the message of the Gospel. The seed is one and the same, but depending on the soil it lands in, it will have a different impact.

a) What soil (path, rock, thorns or fertile soil) best illustrates your current walk of faith?
b) What would it take for you to get fertile soil (if you’re not already there)?
c) In what ways have you seen the seed of knowing Jesus grow in your following of Him in the past year?

2. Following Jesus is not just about salvation and sanctification (becoming like Jesus), it also involves multiplication. Jesus wants us to continue the ministry He started to seek and save those who are lost into a life of following Him.

a) How do you see your role in this ministry assignment?
b) What have been your personal experiences with disciple-making up to this point?
c) What opportunities does your daily context (community, workplace, school, …) give you to participate in Jesus’ mission?

3. Read Matthew 28:18-20. The mission Jesus gives us (v19) is kept together by two bookends: His authority (v18) and His presence (v20).

a) Jesus gives us the mandate to use His authority for His mission. In what ways have you used Jesus’ authority in disciple-making? What was the impact of doing so?
b) As we are taking on the mission, Jesus promises to be with us always (verse 20) and to give us peace (John 20:21). What have been situations in which you experienced these promises of Jesus to be true?

4. Close your LG gathering with a time of group prayer. Suggested prayer prompts:

a) Praise Jesus and give Him thanks for saving us into a life of enjoying His love, grace
and goodness.
b) Commit yourself to Jesus’ assignment and ask Him to help you find your “sweet spot.”
c) Bring the specific disciple-making opportunities in your daily context before Jesus and ask Him to use you in His power and authority.
d) Ask God for a spiritual harvest in your family, community, workplace, school.
