Prayer Guide 09 February 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
Father, how I thank You that nothing is impossible with You – nothing is too difficult! Forgive me for allowing situations and circumstances in my life to overwhelm me and dim Your greatness. I have worried and been anxious Father, and Your Word says that I should do neither, but rather cast every care and anxiety I have onto You, for You will care for me. And so, Father God, I lay at Your feet:

… the concern in my heart for those dear to me who have yet to know that Jesus has come so that they might have Life. Shine the light of Your presence into their hearts and open their spiritual eyes (pray for these by name ) I cast this care onto You.

… the worries that overtake me regarding my future and finances (commit your specific circumstances to Him…) You know all that I need, and I cast this care onto You.

… the condition and darkness of the world around me, the hopelessness that permeates the media and so many of the lives I touch. You are the God of all hope and hold the world in Your hands – fill me with faith once again.  I choose to fix my eyes on Jesus (Ask Him to fill you afresh with the Holy Spirit that peace, hope and faith might increase in your life and the light of Jesus shine through you. Ask the Holy Spirit to prepare you to ‘give the reason for the hope that you have with gentleness and respect’…).  I cast this care onto You.

And so I ask, Father, that You empower me by Your Spirit to not worry about my life, but to make all that concerns me, a matter of prayer. Remind me of my great worth in Your eyes – that I belong to You. May I always be more concerned with the things of Your Kingdom than the things of men. Teach me to rejoice even in my weakness and need, knowing that when I am weak, then You are strong and Christ’s power rests on me. When I don’t know what to do, like Jehoshaphat, may my eyes be on You. For I know that I receive what is given to me only from heaven, and that any and all ability that I possess comes from You.

I ask that like the boy with the lunch of five small loaves and two fish, You take my life, my resources, my gifts and abilities and break them, break me, and use me to feed many for the sake of Your kingdom (Pause and commit yourself once again to Jesus and His purposes in your life).

I choose this day, to lay aside all things that hold me back in my following after You, Lord Jesus, and run to You. May it be so for I ask all these things in Your Mighty Name. Amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Father God, may we as Your people, increasingly cast all of our cares onto You and seek Your kingdom in the way we live and righteousness in our lives (1 Peter 5:7; Matthew 6:33).

I pray Father, for those who will be leading LIFE Groups, and ask that You anoint them with the Holy Spirit, that they might serve with Christlikeness. Build us into a true community of faith! As groups begin to be contacted, meet together, and begin to fellowship, may Your Holy Spirit be poured out on each gathering, Father!

Father, I ask that the Holy Spirit be poured out on our hearts, bringing dead places to life and softening hard hearts. Restore to us the joy of Your salvation (Ezekiel 36:26-27; Psalm 51:12)!

Tuesday

Father, I lift up our pastors to you (David King, Kevin Moua, Steve Odera, Dennis Whalen, René Dekker) and I pray that their zeal for You will increase. Accomplish in them and through them, all that You have called them to do. May they not lean on their own understanding, but increasingly acknowledge You in all their ways. Make the path straight before them, I pray (Romans 12:11; I Thessalonians 5:24; Proverbs 3:5-6).

Lord Jesus, may our love for one another at ECB be sincere. Keep us from being superficial and uncaring, but teach us by Your Spirit to be devoted to one another in brotherly love and to truly honour one another
(Romans 12:9-10).

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
Pray that we will be a broken and repentant people before the Lord. Ask God to give us the gift of tears as a sign that He is softening our hearts. Pray that as the people of God, we will learn what it means to seek Him with all of our hearts and walk in His ways (Psalm 119:2).  Pray that we will be filled with such passion for Him, that we will seek Him, His kingdom and His righteousness – first (Matthew 6:33).  Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us, the ways and the things that we seek first instead of Him, that keep us from truly drawing near to God.

Father, may we as Your people, be those who are willing to go out into ‘deeper waters’ with You. I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ, and I ask for myself, Lord, keep us from standing on the shore and passively listening and watching. May we enter into the life of Spirit and the work of Your kingdom (Luke 5:1-11)!

Father, I ask that You give to us as Your people, the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we might know You better! Open the eyes of our hearts, Father (Ephesians 1:17-18)!  (Pray this for those you know at ECB by name)

Thursday

Father, may we not give the enemy a foothold in our lives by holding onto anger. Set us free from the need to be right. May our relationships be increasingly marked by humility (Ephesians 4:26; 4:2).

May our eyes be fixed on what is unseen and eternal – increase our longing for heaven and for You – that earth would hold nothing that we desire. Smash the idols in our lives that we might love You only  (2 Corinthians 4:18; Psalm 73:25).

May we, from youngest to oldest, become those who do not just hear the Word, but be those who do what it says (James 1:22).

Friday

Father, I ask that as a community of faith, we will be found worthy of Your calling on our lives and empowered to fulfil every good purpose and every act prompted by faith. May this be accomplished among us so that the Lord Jesus may be glorified in us (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12)!

I ask, in the mighty name of Jesus, that You, by Your Spirit, unify and strengthen my Thai brothers and sisters in this city (in this land) to be salt and light. Pour out Your Spirit on Your Church here I pray. Revive the hearts of Thai pastors and may Your Word go forth with power and anointing!

Lord Jesus, I ask that the gifts of the Spirit be poured out on us in even greater measure, that there would be no lack in the ministries of ECB. May all who serve do so with great joy, using what we have received from You to serve others (1 Peter 4:10).

Saturday

Ask God to breathe new life into our community of faith by His Spirit, so that we might worship Him for who He is. Pray that we will increasingly praise Him and give Him the glory that He is due. Ask the Holy Spirit to sponsor new songs of praise and worship among us.

As we gather this Sunday, be the wall of fire around us and the glory within us, I pray. May glorious praise, thanksgiving and worship, be unleashed among us, and Your name and Your word exalted (Zechariah 2:5;
Psalm 138:2).

Prepare my heart today, Holy Spirit, for all that You have for me, as I worship with Your people tomorrow. Change me and make me more like Jesus.

… I commit all these things to You, Father, for You alone can accomplish what man cannot do. You alone are able, and I put my hope in Your great name. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
