Prayer Guide 19 April 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
Father, thank You for the promise of Your Word, that as I come near to You, You will come near to me. Thank You for the blessing that is mine as I seek hard after You! But I come to You, Heavenly Father, confessing that I have allowed other loves to stand in the way of my relationship with You, and so I ask:

Remove my addiction to the noise of the world, Lord Jesus. Take away my need to always be busy and increase my desire to sit at Your feet  (Pause and pray further…).

Forgive me for striving for more of what the world seems to offer – position, power and fleeting treasures, recognition...

Forgive me, for I have often come near to You with my mouth and have said the right words, and yet my heart has remained distant from You, I have ignored Your gentle promptings and invitations to draw near to You.

Be merciful to me, for I long to be one who seeks You with all of my heart, and finds You. May I not draw near to You and then retreat again to lesser loves or hide my heart when You reveal some hidden place yet untouched by Your Spirit.

Remove the fear of punishment and destroy shame, I pray. Save me from myself – from self-righteousness, self-provision and selfishness! Strengthen me to remain in You, to learn to abide in You, so that I might bear lasting spiritual fruit.

May my longing to draw near to You be reflected in my thought life, what I allow myself to read and see, the music I listen to, the conversations I engage in, how I conduct myself at school or work, and when I think no one is watching – in all of these things and so many more, teach me what it means to live and move and have my very being in You alone!

I invite You, Holy Spirit, to break-up the unploughed ground of my heart, that it might become a fertile field in which Your Word can grow. Soften my heart again I pray, and give to me the gift of brokenness and repentance, that I might more clearly hear Your voice and walk in Your ways.

In Jesus' Name, amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Pray that we will be a broken and repentant people before the Lord.

Ask God to give us the gift of tears as a sign that He is softening our hearts.

Pray that, as the people of God, we will learn what it means to seek Him with all of our hearts and walk in His ways (Psalm 119:2).

Lord Jesus, be exalted among us as we gather and worship, as we meet in homes, at our places of work, school and play. Be exalted, be glorified in our conversations, in the choices that we make, and the places we go. Whether we eat or drink or whatever it is that we might do. May we always be mindful that we belong to You, and do it all for Your glory (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Tuesday

Lord Jesus, I ask that Your healing power rest upon those among us who are struggling physically. May sickness and disease be gone in Your mighty name (Pray for those you know of by name…)!

Father, I pray that those who are leading LIFE Groups will be empowered and anointed by Your Holy Spirit. Fill them with great joy and establish the work of their hands (Psalm 90:17)! Father, grow us into a deeper fellowship and community through this ministry that we might be unified by Your Holy Spirit (Pray for your LIFE Group leader by name, and those who are in your LIFE Group).

May trust in You and faith in You rise up within us, putting fear and unbelief to flight! May we truly rest secure in You, knowing that You are the One Who shields us (Exodus 33:14; Deuteronomy 33:12).

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
Lord Jesus, I ask that the gifts of the Spirit be poured out on us in even greater measure, that there would be no lack in the ministries of ECB. Raise up teachers, administrators, intercessors, ushers and greeters, those with the gifts of service and mercy and helps. May all who serve do so with great joy (Pause and pray for those who presently serve).

Ask God to renew our minds and replace ungodly thought patterns and memories with His Word. Ask God to reveal the hidden sins among us and purify us by His Spirit.  Make us to be a true house of prayer (Mark 11:17).  As we gather this evening for Online House of Prayer, grow us in prayer, Lord!

Praise God for His great love for us! Thank Him, that because we are in Christ, He has removed our sin from us, as far as the east is from the west! Proclaim "Your love endures forever!"(Psalm 103:12, 2 Chronicles 20:21-22).

Pray that we will be filled with such passion for Jesus, that we will seek Him, His kingdom and His righteousness  first  (Matthew 6:33) (Pause and pray for renewal in your own heart as well).

Thursday

Pray that righteousness will prevail in the nation of Thailand. Pray that the hearts of those in political positions, will be drawn to Jesus. Pray that Jesus will be revealed to the hearts of Thai people.

Pray for revival in the Church of your home country. Pray that the Holy Spirit will be poured out on pastors and that the preaching of the Word of God would go forth in power.

Father, I pray for those among us with unbelieving spouses or prodigal children. Encourage them by Your Spirit I pray, as they wait for them to come to You. May Jesus be seen in them in such a compelling way, that their loved-ones turn to You (Pray for those you know by name.).

Friday

May we, as Your people, turn from the philosophies and entertainment of the world and truly think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy – may this be the standard for what we allow into our minds and hearts (Philippians 4:8).

Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and ask that You strengthen us by Your Spirit to obey Your Word. Give us a hunger for holiness, for You and Your Word. May we become radical followers of Jesus, dressed in the armour You have provided (Ephesians 6:10-18)!

Father, I lift up our pastors to You. May Your favour rest on them and the work of their hands be firmly established (Psalm 90:17). Accomplish in them and through them all that You have called them to do. Make their path straight before them, I pray, and encourage them by Your Spirit (Romans 12:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:24; Proverbs 3:5-6).

Saturday

Father, I lift up to You, those in our fellowship who are struggling with doubt and unbelief, and I ask in Jesus’ name that the enemy be pushed back. Strengthen them with faith to fix their eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2; Mark 9:24).

Father, I pray that we will become the kind of worshipers that You are seeking – those who worship in spirit and in truth. Open the eyes of our hearts and reveal the hidden things, for You have said that You desire truth in our inmost parts (John 4:23-24; Ephesians 1:18; Job 28:11; Psalm 51:6).

Show us Lord, show me, where I am still withholding my heart from You.

May each of us come before You tomorrow with songs of thanksgiving and joy! Pour out Your Spirit on us as we gather and change us into a people that is conformed to the image of Jesus!
