Prayer Guide 01 November 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
Quiet your heart before the Lord. Ask Him to meet you as you pray.

Father, how thankful I am that You do not show favouritism or partiality, that You send the rain on the righteous and the unrighteous, and abound in love to all who call on You.

Forgive me, Father, for I often do not reflect Your likeness, but treat others with partiality and judge others in my heart. Your Word says that if I show favouritism, I have sinned. So I ask, Lord, forgive me (Pause and continue in repentance before the Lord. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you ways that you are prejudicial in your thoughts and actions. Confess these to the Lord).  Replace my judgmental, prideful spirit with the heart of Jesus my Saviour.

May I increasingly become a person who defends the cause of the weak and fatherless, maintains the rights of the poor and oppressed, and extends the love of Jesus regardless of race or class. Remind me by Your Spirit, I pray, that if I shut my ears to the cry of the poor, You will not hear me when I cry out.

Keep me from showing partiality to the poor or favouritism to those who seem great, for You are the Maker of us all. Instead Father, I ask that You use me as an instrument of reconciliation among races and classes, that Jesus would be seen in me and Your name glorified. By Your Spirit, help me to be merciful.

Guard my heart from discriminating against others in my thoughts, word or actions. Keep me from looking out for only my own interests – may I also look out for the interests of others. May the character and attitude of Jesus grow in me, I pray.

Destroy all selfishness and partiality in me, Father – remove fear and crush pride in my life, that I might bless others as if it were You, Lord Jesus. Open my eyes to see the needs of the world around me and soften my heart.

Father, may I be an extension of Your great love and mercy, to all people.

I ask these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Lord Jesus Christ may all glory and power be Yours alone, for You have made us, Your people, to be a kingdom and priests that we might serve God the Father (May we be found faithfully serving You!). Thank You for loving us and freeing us from our sins by Your blood shed on the cross! Thank You for the victory of the cross (Revelation 1:5)!

Surround us with Your favour, Lord, and establish the work of our hands for the sake of Your Kingdom (Psalm 5:12; 90:17) (Pause and pray for those you know of by name from ECB. Ask God to give them ‘Kingdom impact’ in their sphere of influence).

Tuesday

Thank You, Father, that because of the finished work of Christ, we are more than conquerors. I ask that as a community of faith we would rise up and walk in this truth! Forgive us for being timid or passive. Give us holy boldness, I pray (Romans 8:37).

I pray for those among us who are tormented in their hearts and minds by the enemy, and this day, I proclaim freedom in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Set captives free! Break strongholds LORD (Isaiah 61:1)!

Father, I ask in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that Your people would be equipped with everything good for doing Your will, that Jesus might be glorified among us in all of His greatness (Hebrews 13:20).  Make us to be like Jesus, and give to each of us a willing spirit that we might submit to You (Psalm 51:12).

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
Father, may praise to You and Your great name, pour forth from the lives of Your people! Like the armies of King Jehoshaphat, may we praise You for the splendour of Your holiness and give thanks to You, for Your love endures forever! May praise from the lips of Your people rout the enemy and send him running (2 Chronicles 21-22)!

May Your Word constantly be in our hands, on our lips and in our hearts! Give to each of us a fresh hunger for Your Word, that we might truly be strong in You and Your mighty power (Psalm 149:6,9; Ephesians 6:12).

Father, I pray for those in our fellowship who are being tempted to turn away from You. Strengthen them to stand firm  (Pray for those you know of by name who are in the midst of difficult situations…)!

Father, I ask that You use tonight’s House of Prayer to grow us into a ‘house of prayer for all nations’ (Mark 11:17). Teach us to persevere in prayer, to always pray and never give up (Luke 18:1).

As we gather as Your people each Sunday, may the walls of ECB resound with the praise of Your great name! May strongholds of unbelief and doubt be broken, and may there be salvation in Your house each week! Lead those who are searching, to salvation through Jesus!

Thursday

Give to us I pray, a fresh determination to follow hard after You. May we hear and obey Your Word and persevere through trials (Deuteronomy 17:19).

Awaken and revive Your Church in the city of Bangkok, Father. Restore first-love passion in our hearts, that Your love might flow through the streets of this city like a mighty river! Give us Bangkok for Jesus’ sake (Pause and pray for the street/area where you live, that the presence of Jesus would be made known. Ask God to reveal Jesus to your neighbours, co-workers and friends through dreams and visions, and the witness of your life)!

May we put on the helmet of salvation and declare that salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved from our sin! You, Lord Jesus, are the Christ, the Son of the Living God! Jesus, You are our salvation! Father, may we, as Your people, be overwhelmed with the joy of the salvation that we have in You (Ephesians 6:17; Acts 4:12; Matthew 16:16’ Psalm 51:12)!

Friday

I ask that ECB would become a true House of Prayer for all nations. Ignite a fire of prayer in us that spreads from here to the city of Bangkok, the nation of Thailand, and even the nations of the world! Revive and soften our weary, hard hearts with Your Spirit, I pray. Renew gifts of faith and hope among us! Restore joy and gladness! O God, I ask that You pour out the Holy Spirit on us in power (Pause and ask for a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit. Be still and wait on the Lord)!

May we put on Christ Jesus and take our stand! May Your power that is at work in us this day, be mighty! Strengthen us by Your Spirit, Lord, that we would rise up and be mighty men and women, for the purposes of Your Kingdom!

Saturday

Prepare us to hear and receive what the Holy Spirit would say to each of us. Strengthen us to obey. Bless our pastors with Your peace and presence this day, and give them wisdom and discernment as they shepherd us (Pause and continue to pray for our pastors, elders, deacons, LIFE Group leaders, teachers, all who minister among us. Pray that they will be strengthened and encouraged by the Spirit).

May we be increasingly aware of the cunning schemes of the evil one. May we be wise and aware every time we turn on our computers or TVs, and as we walk the streets of Bangkok. May we truly hate all that is evil and run to, cling to, everything that is good! May our eyes be fixed on Jesus (2 Corinthians 2:11; 11:3; Hebrews 12:2; Romans 12:17)!

As we gather this Sunday, be the wall of fire around us and the glory within us, I pray! May glorious praise, thanksgiving and worship be unleashed among us, and Your name and Your Word exalted (Zechariah 2:5; Psalm 138:2)!
