Prayer Guide 20 December 2020

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
Before you begin, ask God to reveal to your heart the ways that the enemy has robbed you of the peace that is yours because of Christ. Confess these things to Him and ask Him to still the storms in your life and refocus your living…

I thank You, Father, that Jesus Himself is my peace and that He has completely destroyed the barrier that separated me from You! How grateful I am, that I have been reconciled to Him through His blood shed on the cross and now have peace with You.

Forgive me, I pray, for the times that I do not cast my cares and anxieties onto You, but instead carry them myself and allow my heart to be weighed down and needlessly burdened. I ask that Your peace, which is beyond my ability to understand, guard my heart and my mind – cover me, because I am in Christ Jesus. I belong to You.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the peace that You give to me, which is so very different than the fleeting attempts of the world to quiet my heart. Guard my heart, Holy Spirit, that I might not be afraid. Help me to learn to be still and know that You are God, to hear Your voice in the midst of the storms that I face saying ‘Peace, be still, I’m right here.’ Keep me from fear and increase my faith. May my life be characterized by Your peace no matter the tumult of the situation I face.

May I love Your Word that I might have great peace and not stumble.
May my mind be controlled by Your Spirit and produce life and peace.
May Your strength and peace fill my life because I belong to You.

Lord Jesus, You are my Wonderful Counsellor, You are Mighty God, the Everlasting Father incarnate and my Prince of Peace! With You, all things are possible. I invite You into the impossible situations of my life, and I ask, that as I wait on You, You fill me with Your peace – for my hope is in You alone and I trust in Your great name. (Pause and commit every peace-stealing situation to Jesus).

In Your name Lord Jesus. Amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Lord Jesus, thank You for enduring the punishment of the cross that we might have peace. I pray, that as Your people, our minds would be increasingly steadfast and trust in You completely – that we would be kept in perfect peace. I ask that the Holy Spirit be poured out on us, that the peace of Christ might rule in my heart, and the hearts of my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. May we not be anxious about anything, but more and more, become those who pray about everything, trusting You in all things (Isaiah 9:6; John 10:30; Isaiah 53:5
Isaiah 26:3; Colossians 3:15; Philippians 4:6).

Forgive us, Father, for the ways that we follow You half-heartedly. May we become those who love You with all of our hearts, all of our souls and strength (Deuteronomy 6:4).

Tuesday

Show us, Lord, where we are still conforming to the patterns of this world, and refine us by Your Spirit that our living might be transformed and our minds renewed (Romans 12:2)!

As we follow Christ Jesus together as a community of faith, may the spirit of unity among us increase (Romans 15:5).

I ask, Lord, that You give us a hunger for Your Word. Push us deeper I pray, that we might leave the elementary teachings of Christ and go on to maturity (Hebrews 6:1).

Wednesday

As you pray, mention by name those from ECB who the Holy Spirit brings to mind.

Forgive us for the ways that we have trusted in other things and looked in other places for comfort and security (relationships, job security, finances, governments…) rather than trusting in You (Psalm 20:7) (Pause and be still before the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to reveal the places in your life where you are depending on something other than God…).

Father, I pray for those among the ECB community who are new in their faith journey with You – increase their faith, Father. May they be built-up, edified and encouraged. For those among us who are still seeking, and have yet to call on Your name, reveal Yourself to them Lord, draw them by Your Spirit. Add to our fellowship daily those who are being saved (John 6:44; Acts 2:47)!

For those among us who are experiencing trials of all kinds, I ask that You strengthen us by the Holy Spirit, to be strong and courageous. May fear and discouragement disappear and a fresh realization of Your nearness in the midst of our adversities, overwhelm us (Joshua 1:9)!

Thursday

Father, may we increasingly live in harmony with one another – may we be sympathetic with one another and love as brothers and sisters. May compassion and humility increase among us. Teach us how to bless one another (1 Peter 3:8-9).

I pray for our children and young people, Father, and ask You to strengthen them to stand firm in their faith and make a difference for Your Kingdom. Protect them from the evil one (John 17:15). May they follow You all the days of their lives.

I lift up those among us who are struggling with doubt, unbelief or depression, and ask that You would keep the light of the Holy Spirit burning in their hearts – turn their darkness into light, I pray (Psalm 18:28) (Pray for those you know, by name…)!

Friday

In all things, Lord - our conversations and actions, public occasions and solitary moments – may we live our lives in such a way that we are found worthy of the calling that we have received in You (Ephesians 4:1).

May the love of Jesus be evident among us, drawing those who do not yet know You, to faith in Him. May the seekers among us, come to faith in Christ!

You have said, Lord, that You will give the Holly Spirit to those who ask - Father, I ask! Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit! Pour out Your Spirit on my brothers and sisters in Christ at ECB! Revive us, change us! Conform us to the image of Jesus (Luke 11:11-13; Psalm 85:6; Romans 8:29)!

Father, may the light of Your face shine upon us – surround us with Your favour, as a shield (Psalm 4:6; 5:12)!

Saturday

Father, prepare the hearts of Your people today to worship You tomorrow. Prepare my heart, I pray! May each of us come before You with songs of thanksgiving and joy – open our lips that we might declare Your praise – may our hearts be unleashed!

Pour out Your Spirit on us as we gather – change us and wash us by Your Word! Keep us from just listening to Your Word – may we be those who do what it says (Psalm 51:15; Ephesians 5:26; James 1:22)!

Father, I ask that You build the house called ECB – we do not want to labour in vain! In Your good pleasure, make ECB prosper. May many be led to Jesus, and Your love spread through the city of Bangkok, through our lives.

May Your favour rest upon us, Lord. Establish the work of our hands. May the ministries of our fellowship multiply and increase (Psalm 127:1; Psalm 51:18; Psalm 90:17)!
