Prayer Guide 02 January 2022

Sunday

Quiet your heart before you begin. Ask God to give you a willing spirit
to hear and respond to His voice – to do His will.
(Psalm 51:12, James 1:22)
Thank You Father, that You have given me everything that I need for life and godliness through my knowledge of You and the promises of Your Word. Today, I ask that You help me to put them into practice in my life, so that Your character may be seen in me more and more. Forgive me Lord, for I know that I often do not live by Your Spirit, but instead give in to my sinful nature and close my ears to Your voice.

Father, Your Word says that a person who lacks self-control is like a city whose walls are broken down. I know that my lack of self-control has allowed the enemy access to areas of my life and I ask for Your cleansing.

Wherever there is excess in my life, bring it under the control of the Holy Spirit, for I submit to You (Pause and pray specifically for areas of your life that need to be brought under the control of the Holy Spirit. Commit these to Him).

Rebuild the walls in these areas of my life, Father. Empower me by Your Spirit, to be self-controlled and alert – always mindful that the enemy of my soul, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. May I resist him and stand firm in my faith in You.

Because I belong to Your kingdom that is light, may I be determined to be self-controlled and put on faith and love as a breastplate and the hope of salvation as a garment. Surely the end of all things is near, therefore, may I be clear minded and self-controlled so that I can pray. May self-control increase in my life as evidence of the work and filling of the Holy Spirit and empower me to encourage my brothers and sisters around me as well and set an example by doing what is good.

I confess my dependence on You to enable me to say “no” to ungodliness and worldly desires and to live a self-controlled, upright and godly life as I walk this earth – that the beauty of Jesus may increasingly be seen in me. I ask all these things in His great name. Amen.

Monday

Lord Jesus, be exalted among us as we gather and worship, as we meet in homes, at our places of work, school and play. Be exalted, be glorified in our conversations, in the choices that we make, and the places we go. Whether we eat or drink or whatever it is that we might do. May we always be mindful that we belong to You and do all things for Your glory (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Father, I pray that those who are leading Life Groups will be empowered and anointed by Your Holy Spirit. Fill them with great joy and establish the work of their hands (Psalm 90:17)!  Father, grow us into a deeper fellowship and community through this ministry that we might be unified by Your Holy Spirit.

Tuesday

Father, may we increasingly live in harmony with one another, may we be sympathetic with one another and love as brothers and sisters – may compassion and humility increase among us. Teach us how to bless one another (1 Peter 3:8-9).

Father, You know the needs that are represented in our fellowship. There is relational brokenness among us Lord, spiritual dryness, unconfessed sin, physical weakness, emotional distress; O God have mercy on us, heal Your people (Pray for those you know of by name).

Wednesday

Prayer and Fasting Focus
Father, You have said that the sacrifices that You are looking for are a broken spirit and contrite heart. Destroy pride among us Lord and give to us the gift of repentance I pray (Psalm 51:16-17).

Keep us from turning away from You, Father. May we be steadfast. Revive us and restore us. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Make Your face shine on us, that the world may know that we are Yours (Psalm 81:18-19).

Father, I pray that we will become the kind of worshipers that You are seeking, those who worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24).

Father, give us hearts that are fully committed to You. Destroy all double-mindedness, doubt and unbelief that is present among us. May faith, hope and trust in You well up within our hearts (2 Chronicles 16:9; James 1:6-7).

Thursday

Fill us with fresh passion for You and a hunger for holiness, that we would truly become those who seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Psalm 119:2; Matthew 6:33).

May those in our community of faith who are hard pressed on every side, be encouraged by Your Spirit to stand firm. Strengthen them I pray (Pray for those you know of by name who are experiencing trials…).

I ask in Jesus’ mighty name, that every stronghold of addiction be broken off of us as Your people. Reveal the hidden things, Father! Purify us and make us holy (Job 28:11)!

Strengthen our pastors to serve with joy. May they walk in wisdom.

Friday

Father, protect us from the love of money. May we be increasingly content with what we have knowing that You will never leave us (Hebrews 13:5-6).

I pray for our children and young people, Father and ask You to strengthen them to stand firm in their faith and make a difference for Your kingdom. Protect them from the evil one (John 17:15) and may they follow You all the days of their lives.

Father, it is written that it is improper for Your people to engage in sexual immorality, any kind of impurity or greed and so I ask in Jesus’ name, that all deeds of darkness be crushed in our lives (Ephesians 5:3-5). May we walk in the light of Your presence!

Saturday

Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus who struggle with English and ask that as they listen to Your Word tomorrow that it will be as if they are hearing it in their own language. May Your Word accomplish all that You intend in every heart (Pray for those you know, by name).

May each of us come before you with songs of thanksgiving and joy – open our lips that we might declare Your praise – may our hearts be unleashed in Your presence!

Pour out Your Spirit on us as we gather, change us and wash us by Your Word! Keep us from just listening to Your Word, may we be those who do what it says (Psalm 51:15; Ephesians 5:26; James 1:22)!

May we as Your people have ears to hear what Your Spirit would say to us. Anoint Your Word I pray – may those who lead us in worship be empowered by Your Spirit, those who come tomorrow who do not yet know You, be drawn to You, and O God, pour out Your Holy Spirit on us! Renew us! Revive us! Change Us!

As we gather tomorrow for House of Prayer, may the Holy Spirit be poured out among us in power. Teach us to pray!
