Prayer Guide 20 February 2022

Sunday

“We cannot talk to God strongly when we have not lived for God strongly.
The closet cannot be made holy to God when the life has not been holy to God."
E.M. Bounds
Father, I know that You have breathed into all Scripture by Your Spirit, and that the Word teaches me, rebukes, corrects and trains me in righteousness.

I know that it is by living according to Your Word, that I can keep my way pure. But I confess, that too often I only listen to Your Word – I do not do what it says, and by doing this, I have hardened my heart to the voice of Your Spirit. O God, have mercy on me I pray, and forgive me! Forgive me for ignoring Your Word and the promptings of the Holy Spirit, – for going my own way and giving in to the standards of the world. Your Word, O God, is like fire and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces! Break the hardness of my heart, I pray, soften my heart again and teach me – change me by Your Word (Pause in God’s presence and pray your heart to Him...).

I ask in Jesus’ name, that You give me an ever-increasing hunger for Your Word – that it would consistently be a lamp to my feet and a light for my path, knowing that everything that was written in the past was written to teach me, so I would endure in my walk with You, and be encouraged by Your Word.

I submit to Your Word, O God (Pause and recommit yourself to submit to the Word of God. Pray your heart to Him…)!

I confess, that I’ve allowed the voice of the world to speak more loudly into my life than the voice of the Holy Spirit through Your Word! Forgive me. Father, sanctify me by the truth of Your Word.

I confess, that I have not cherished Your Word in my heart, and I ask that You would make me to be like Job, who was strengthened by Your Spirit to not depart from the commands of Your lips – may I treasure Your Word more than my daily bread (Pause and pray further according to the prompting of the Holy Spirit…).

Father, help me to be disciplined to immerse myself in Your Word, and delight and meditate on it. Make me, I pray, to be like a tree planted by streams of water, always yielding fruit, whose leaf does not wither. Cause what I do to prosper for the glory of Your Name! I commit myself, to the renewing of my mind by Your Word in order that my living might be transformed and the glory of Jesus – the Word made flesh – be seen in me.

I ask this in the mighty Name of the Word who became flesh, Jesus. Amen.

Monday

Lord Jesus: Be exalted among us, as we gather and worship, as we meet in homes, in our places of work, school and recreation. Be glorified in our conversations, in the choices that we make, and the places we go.

Whether we eat or drink, or whatever it is that we might do, may we always be mindful that we are Your people, sheep of Your pasture. We belong to You (1 Corinthians 10:31; Psalm 100:3).

May we, from youngest to oldest become those who do not just hear the Word, but be those who do what it says (James 1:22). May we be increasingly quick and willing to obey.

Tuesday

Father, give to each of us, creative ways to live out Jesus to our Thai neighbours, classmates, co-workers and friends, that in spite of language barriers and cultural differences, Jesus might be proclaimed. May the light of Jesus be seen in me I pray (Pause and pray for those who God has placed in your life, by name)!

Father, You know the needs that are represented in our fellowship. There is relational brokenness among us Lord, spiritual dryness, unconfessed sin, physical weakness, emotional distress. O God have mercy on us, heal Your people (Pray for those you know, by name).

Wednesday

Prayer and Fasting Focus
Father, I know that You have called us as Your people to totally embrace life in accordance with Your Word. I ask that as Your people we will enter into a radical and continual renewing of our minds that our living might be transformed (John 14:15; Romans 12:1-2)!

Father, help us as Your people to learn to walk humbly with You.

Give us the gift of tears I pray as a sign that You are softening our hearts (Ask that the Holy Spirit soften your heart as well).

Fill us with fresh passion for You and a hunger for holiness. May we truly be those who seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness (Recommit yourself to following Jesus with your whole heart).

Reveal to us I pray, the things that keep us from truly drawing near to You (Psalm 119:2; Matthew 6:33) (Pause and ask for revelation regarding your own heart).

Thursday

May those in our community of faith, who are hard pressed on every side, be encouraged by Your Spirit to stand firm. Strengthen them I pray (Pray for those you know of by name who are experiencing trials…).

The Word of God tells us that we must deny ourselves and take up our cross – that a true disciple of Jesus must hold to His teaching. Therefore:

Pray that as a community of faith we will become determined, obedient disciples of Jesus.

Pray that we will do what the Word says, not just listen to it. Pray that greater spiritual fruit will be born out of our lives (Matthew 16:24; John 8:31; John 15:8).

Ask God to open the floodgates of heaven and pour out blessing on Christian organizations ministering in the nation of Thailand. Pray that regardless of the economy, they will grow and prosper, and that many will be impacted by the Gospel message.

Friday

Increase our boldness in speaking Your Word, Father, and confirm Your Word among us with signs and wonders, that You Lord Jesus might be exalted, and the unbelieving come to faith (Acts 4:29-30)!

Heavenly Father, I pray for my home nation, and I ask, Father, that You pour out the Holy Spirit and revive Your Church there to be salt and light and the very aroma of Christ! Awaken every heart that has fallen asleep. Turn the hearts of men and women back to You, I pray! O God, pour out Your Spirit on the land – that spiritual harvest might come in, and the Lamb might receive the reward for His suffering (Mark 4:13-20).

Saturday

May each of us come before you with songs of thanksgiving and joy – open our lips that we might declare Your praise – may our hearts be unleashed in Your presence!

Pour out Your Spirit on us as we gather, change us and wash us by Your Word! Keep us from just listening to Your Word, may we be those who do what it says (Psalm 51:15; Ephesians 5:26; James 1:22)!

May we, as Your people, have ears to hear what Your Spirit would say to us. Anoint Your Word I pray – may those who lead us in worship be empowered by Your Spirit, those who come tomorrow who do not yet know You, be drawn to You, and O God, pour out Your Holy Spirit on us! Renew us! Revive us! Change Us!
