Prayer Guide 17 April 2022

Sunday

Lenten Meditation
Prepare your heart for prayer with the words to the hymn below.

GLORIOUS DAY (Living He Loved Me)
John W. Chapman 19th century – Casting Crowns 2009

One day they led Him up Calvary's mountain
One day they nailed Him to die on a tree
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected,
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He
Hands that healed nations, stretched out on a tree – and took the nails for me

Living, He loved me dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever

One day He's coming, Oh glorious day, oh glorious day
One day the grave could conceal Him no longer
One day the stone rolled away from the door
Then He arose, over death He had conquered
Now He's ascended, my Lord evermore
Death could not hold Him, the grave could not keep Him from rising again!

Jesus I remember…

“On the first day of the week, very early in the morning,
the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb.
They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,
but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
While they were wondering about this,
suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them.
In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground,
but the men said to them,

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!

Remember how he told you while he was still with you in Galilee:
‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men,
be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’

“Then they remembered his words. When they came back from the tomb,
they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others.” (Selah) Luke 24:19

Thanks be to God! Because You have conquered death,
the victory over sin is mine through You Lord Jesus!
For I have been made alive with You – raised up from the death-grip of sin,
and seated with you in heavenly places!
Hallelujah! What a Saviour! Amen! and amen!

Monday

May those in our community of faith who are hard pressed on every side, be encouraged by Your Spirit to stand firm. Strengthen them I pray (Pray for those you know of by name who are experiencing trials…).

May we as Your people, praise You, O God. May all of us praise You, that the land in which we live might yield its harvest and we might experience Your great blessing (Psalm 67:5-6).

May each of us, Father, use the gifts that You have given to us to serve others, that we might be faithful in dispensing Your grace (1 Peter 4:10).

Tuesday

Protect Your people from hollow and deceptive philosophies of the world. May we be dependent on Christ alone! Renew us from the inside out, may we think on only those things that are excellent and praiseworthy (Colossians 2:8; Philippians 4:8).

Strengthen Your Church in Bangkok, Father, for the earth is Yours, O God, Bangkok belongs to You! May Your name be great in this city!  Strengthen my brothers and sisters across Bangkok, to rise up and be salt and light and the aroma of Christ (Psalm 24:1).

Wednesday

Prayer and Fasting Focus
Father, may we truly live and move and have our very being in Jesus alone. May the power of the resurrection be displayed and lived out in our lives. Energize us by Your Spirit, and may apathy, laziness and lukewarm living be put to death! Our Saviour lives! Reignite our hearts I pray – Jesus is alive (Acts 17:28; Ephesians 1:19-22)!

Pray that resurrection power will infuse ministers of the Gospel around the world with fresh Spirit-life. Ask God to renew them by His Spirit, and give them His strength in their areas of weakness. Pray that there will be spiritual harvest from Passion Week services and events.

Father, I pray for those in our congregation who have unbelieving spouses, or prodigal children. I ask that you encourage them by Your Spirit.  Strengthen them to live out Jesus in gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).

Father, I ask that the Holy Spirit be poured out on the ECB campus, on my brothers and sisters in Christ – on all who enter the sanctuary! Convict of sin, change and transform us. Soften hard hearts! Revive us I pray!

Thursday

Pry our fingers off of the things of this world, Lord. May we not love the world, but may our love for You increase (1 John 2:15)!

Open the eyes of our hearts and reveal the hidden things, for You have said that You desire truth in our inmost parts. Show us Lord, show me, where I am still withholding my heart from You (Ephesians 1:18; Job 28:11;
Psalm 51:6).

Father, make ECB a community of faith that truly lives by the Spirit and keeps in step with the Spirit. May we not in any way put out the Spirit’s fire, but rather, fan into flame the gift of God that is in each of us (Galatians 5:25:
1 Thessalonians 5:19; 2 Timothy 1:6)!

Lord Jesus, be exalted among us as we gather and worship, as we meet in homes, at our places of work, school and play. Whether we eat or drink or whatever it is that we might do. May we always be mindful that we belong to You, and do it all for Your glory (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Friday

May we become radical in the way that we follow after You, Lord Jesus, radical in the way that we turn from sin, radical in our obedience, radical in our acts of love.

Father, I lift up our students to You, may they follow hard after You all the days of their lives. Guard their hearts by Your Spirit that they might not love the world or the things of the world.

Pray for the Church of Jesus Christ in your home country. Ask God to pour out His Spirit and revive the hearts of pastors and His people. Knowing that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, pray believing for great spiritual harvest (2 Peter 3:9)!

Saturday

Father, prepare us to enter Your gates with thanksgiving and praise. May we be prepared tomorrow, to give thanks to You, and praise Your name, for You are good and Your love and faithfulness endure forever
(Psalm 100:4-5)!

May we become those who truly worship You in spirit and in truth – may we not come near to You saying the right things with our mouths, but guarding our hearts (John 4:23; Isaiah 29:13)!

Anoint our Pastor I pray – may those who lead us in worship be empowered by Your Spirit, and O God, pour out Your Holy Spirit on us! Renew us! Revive us! Change Us! Holy Spirit, fall fresh on ME!

Pray for those who are seeking the Truth and will be visiting ECB tomorrow. Ask God to open the eyes of their hearts and draw them to Himself. Pray that there will be salvation in the house of God!
