Prayer Guide 03 July 2022

Sunday

Before you begin, take time to remember the goodness of the Lord, His provision in the past, His faithfulness to you in difficult circumstances, and give thanks. Remember that His faithful love endures forever…

Father, how I thank You for the promise of Your Word, that You are working all things together for my good. Forgive me, Lord, for the many times that I lose sight of Your face in the midst of my storms and give in to fear. Father, I choose to submit to You those things in my life that appear to be out of control, knowing that nothing has escaped Your attention. Like Joseph, I know that what may have been meant for harm in my life, You have intended for good, in order to accomplish Your purposes in me and through me.

I ask that You redeem my past experiences and choices. Use them, I pray, to form the character of Jesus in me. I know, Father, that both abundance and want are tools in Your hand to produce Christ-likeness in me. Teach me contentment in all situations. I know that this can only be accomplished through Christ Who gives me strength.

Keep me from the pursuit of what does not last, but make me to be one who lays up treasures in heaven. Teach me this by Your Spirit, I pray, for I want to be a faithful steward of what You have entrusted to me. I confess that even now, there are situations in my life from which I would choose to run or avoid all together, things that seem overwhelming and insurmountable. Instead, Father, help me to see Your hand at work on my behalf.

Use every difficulty in my life to strengthen my faith-walk with You that I might persevere and be found mature and complete in You, not lacking anything. I ask that You accomplish these things so that the beauty of Jesus will be seen more clearly in me.

May I truly be the salt of the earth – may the flavour of Jesus be added to everything that I touch! May Your light, Lord Jesus, shine through me so that others may see You. May I be found worthy of bearing Your message to the world, for You have called me to be Your witness.

Your plans and purposes are perfect, Lord, and I submit to You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Monday

Father, I ask that Your glory spread over the face of the earth – over every nation and city, over the city of Bangkok (Psalm 57:11)!

Ask God to energize us by His Spirit, that we might not be lethargic or overwhelmed in engaging the communities around us. Pray that we will increasingly be counter-cultural, radical followers of Jesus Christ. Ask God to give us every place that we set our feet for the sake of the Gospel (Joshua 1:3)!

Tuesday

Father, I know that You have called us as Your people, to totally embrace life in accordance with Your Word. I ask that as Your people, we will enter into a radical and continual renewing of our minds, that our living might be transformed and we might be able to clearly discern Your will (John 14:15; Romans 12:1-2).

Father, I ask that the Holy Spirit be poured out on our hearts, bringing dead places to life, softening hard hearts. Restore to us the joy of Your salvation!

Pray that we will increasingly give over the battles of our lives to Jesus and submit to Him (2 Chronicles
20:21-24).

Wednesday

Prayer and Fasting Focus
Pray that as God’s people, we will more and more become students of the Word – that the Word would dwell in us richly and truly be the standard by which we live and conduct ourselves, that Jesus would be seen in us with power.

Renew our minds I pray. May we, as Your people, turn from the philosophies and entertainment of the world and truly think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy – may this be the standard for what we allow into our minds and hearts (Philippians 4:8).

Father, I pray that those who are leading LIFE Groups, teaching in CrossTown, leading our youth, serving in Women and Men’s Ministry, our pastors, elders and deacons – all who serve at ECB, will be empowered and anointed by Your Holy Spirit. Fill them with great joy and establish the work of their hands (Psalm 90:17)!

Thursday

Father may we not give the enemy a foothold in our lives by holding onto anger (Ephesians 4:26; 4:2). Set us free from the need to be right. May our relationships be increasingly marked by humility.

May our eyes be fixed on what is unseen and eternal – increase our longing for heaven and for You – that earth would hold nothing that we desire (2 Corinthians 4:18; Psalm 73:25). Smash the idols in our lives that we might love You only.

May we, from youngest to oldest, become those who do not just hear the Word, but be those who do what it says (James 1:22).

Friday

Pray that we will be a broken and repentant people before the Lord. Ask God to give us the gift of tears, as a sign that He is softening our hearts. Pray that, as the people of God, we will learn what it means to seek Him with all of our hearts and walk in His ways (Psalm 119:2).

Pray that we will be filled with such passion for Jesus that we will seek Him, His Kingdom and His righteousness – first (Matthew 6:33). Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us the ways and the things that we seek first instead of Him, that keep us from truly drawing near to God.

Lord Jesus, may our love for one another at ECB be sincere. Keep us from being superficial and uncaring, but teach us by Your Spirit to be devoted to one another in brotherly love and to truly honour one another (Romans 12:9-10).

Saturday

As we gather as Your people each Sunday, may the walls of ECB resound with the praise of Your great name! May strongholds of unbelief and doubt be broken, and may there be salvation in Your house! Lead those who are searching, to salvation through Jesus.

Father, I ask that those who come to ECB seeking answers about who You are and what it means to follow Jesus, will be drawn by the Holy Spirit to salvation.

May each of us extend the welcome of Jesus to those around us, and may Jesus be so seen among us, that many will come to faith in Him. May there be salvation in Your house tomorrow!

Anoint our Pastor, and give Your Church ears to hear what You would say to us through the preaching of Your Word (Revelation2:29).

Prepare my heart today, Holy Spirit, for all that You have for me, as I worship with Your people tomorrow. Change me and make me more like Jesus.
