Prayer Guide 17 July 2022

Sunday

Quiet your heart before you begin. Ask God to guard your heart and mind with the peace of Christ…

Loving Heavenly Father, I remember that Jesus said that I should take His yoke upon myself and learn from Him and in doing so, I would find rest for my soul. I confess that all too often, I do the opposite and go my own way.

Forgive me Father, for controlling and manipulating situations and circumstances, for striving, instead of resting in You (Pause and pray further).

Forgive me I pray, for the way that I become weighed down and entangled in my own plans and dreams with little or no thought of what is Your desire for me (Bring your concerns and situations to Jesus).

Father, like Moses, may Your presence go with me and give me rest. Lead me in Your way, in a straight path that honours You. May my eyes be fixed on You – on Jesus, for You alone empower me to live for You.

Draw me by Your Spirit, that I might rest in You alone, that I might live and move and have my very existence in You. And so Father, I commit my ways to You…

I bring before You, the relationships in my life and the situations they represent, and I confess that I have allowed them to weigh heavy on my heart. Use me, I pray, as a channel of Your peace and presence. Keep me from trying to control. I cast on You, these who are precious to me, and I choose to rest in You (Pray for those you are burdened for by name…).

I bring to You, loving Father, the plans I have made and confess now, that it is Your will that I want to prevail. Guard my heart by Your Holy Spirit and keep me from striving after things that do not last. May my heart be set on eternity. I choose to rest in You, Lord Jesus (Commit your plans and dreams to the Lord…).

I bring to You, loving Father, my vocation, my leisure time and hobbies and ask that each of these be connected to You and Your purposes for my life, that Your peace would rest on me and be evident in all that I do (Pause and submit your life to the Lordship of Christ).

Teach me what it truly means to rest in You, to lean against You. May I acknowledge You in everything that I do, say and think, for only then will I rest secure. I ask these things in Jesus’ name, that I might know You more.

Monday

Strengthen us Father, and bless us with the peace of Christ (Psalm 29:11). In the midst of this tumultuous world, may our lives be centered on Jesus.

Father, destroy all pride among us and replace our hearts of stone with hearts of flesh (Ezekiel 11:19). Give us the gift of brokenness and repentance before You.

Father God, may we as Your people, increasingly cast all of our cares onto You and seek Your Kingdom in the way we live and your righteousness in our lives (1 Peter 5:7; Matthew 6:33).

Tuesday

Father, I ask that the peace of Christ, which is beyond our ability to understand, would guard our hearts and minds. Free us from worry, fear and anxiety. Teach us to truly rest in You – to trust in You (Philippians 4:7; Isaiah 30:15).

You are the God of all hope Father. I pray that you will fill my brothers and sisters in Christ at ECB, with joy and peace that their hearts might overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13).

Father, I pray for those among the ECB community who are new in their faith journey with You, and for those who are still seeking. Increase their faith Father. May they be built-up, edified and encouraged and go onto maturity
in You.

Wednesday

Prayer and Fasting Focus
Father may our eyes be continually fixed on Jesus, and may we walk in the freedom that He has provided for us (Hebrews 12:2; Romans 8:2). Keep us from returning to sinful patterns of behaviour.

Father, may we not only love with the words that we say, but with actions (1 John 3:8-9).

Father, Your Word says that if one part of the body of Christ suffers, every part suffers. Teach us to walk alongside one another and bear each other’s burdens as a testimony of Your presence among us (1 Corinthians 12:26; Galatians 6:2) (Pray for those you know of by name…).

Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters who are wrestling with doubt and unbelief, who are being tempted to turn back in their faith journey. O God, have mercy! Pour out Your Spirit and draw them with Your loving kindness once again. May encouragement from the Holy Spirit be poured out on their lives (Romans 15:13).

Thursday

Father, I ask that by Your Spirit, You would bind up the broken-hearted among us and set captives free. I pray for my brothers and sisters who are trapped in their minds by the pain of hurtful memories. I pray for healing in Jesus’ name, and ask that their minds would be renewed and their living transformed (Isaiah 61:1; Romans 12:1-2).

Father, You have said that the sacrifices that You are looking for are a broken spirit and contrite heart. Destroy pride among us Lord and give to us the gift of repentance, I pray (Psalm 51:16-17).

Father, I ask that Your Word would dwell in us richly, that we would overflow with Your Word (Colossians 3:16; 1:19-20).

Pray for the nation of Thailand. Pray that Christ-centered ministries around the country will have increased Gospel impact. Ask God for revival visitations of the Holy Spirit to fall on the national Church, pastors and leaders!

Friday

Give us ‘God-sized’ dreams for the ministry that you wish to accomplish through us. Forgive our lack of faith, and embolden us to be risk-takers for the sake of Your Kingdom (Hebrews 11:1,6)!

Father, I ask that You build the house called ECB – we do not want to labour in vain! In Your good pleasure, make ECB prosper. May many be led to Jesus and Your love spread through the city of Bangkok through our lives. May Your favour rest upon us, Lord. Establish the work of our hands (Psalm 127:1; Psalm 51:18; Psalm 90:17).

Keep us from turning away from You, Father. May we be steadfast. Revive us and restore us. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Make Your face shine on us, that the world may know that we are Yours (Psalm 81:18-19).

Saturday

Speak powerfully through the speaker, and may we, as Your people, have ears to hear what Your Spirit would say to us. Anoint him, I pray – may those who lead us in worship be empowered by Your Spirit, those who come tomorrow who do not yet know You, be drawn to You, and O God, pour out Your Holy Spirit on us! Renew us! Revive us! Change Us!

Father, prepare my heart to receive the ‘seed’ of Your Word tomorrow. May Your Word go deep within me, take root and produce lasting fruit in my life. I ask this for my brothers and sisters as well, change us by Your Word!

Pray for the Church of Jesus Christ in your home country. Ask God to pour out revival visitations of His Spirit on congregations across the land. Pray that pastors will be encouraged and strengthened and boldly preach the Word of God. Pray that our brothers and sisters worldwide will be salt and light and express the love of Jesus in word and action.
