Prayer Guide 28 August 2022
Sunday
“We would not make so many rash and unspiritual choices, nor would we be so frequently at a loss what to do in the face of important decisions, if we would begin to fast in the Christian sense, and thus give the Spirit of prayer an opportunity to speak to our souls.”

O. Hallesby
Father, thank You, that because of my confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord, I have the promise of never-ending life with You. How grateful I am for the love that You have lavished on me through Jesus!
Thank You Father, for the hope that I have, that when Jesus appears, I will be like Him. By the work of the Holy Spirit in me, may I be made ready for that day! In light of this, help me to live as a stranger on earth – someone who belongs to a heavenly country. May my longing for heaven and to be in Your presence, increase Lord!
Empower me by the Holy Spirit, to abstain from sinful desires that war against my soul. May my life be full of good deeds, that You might be glorified on the day Jesus returns. Guard my heart from loving the world or the things of the world. In all things, may my heart be set on eternity (Pause and recommit your passions and pursuits to Jesus. Ask for an increased longing for heaven).
May I be one who longs for Jesus to return. Even in the midst of trials that I face, may I persevere with joy, for I know that You have promised a crown of life for those who love You and stand the test. Use momentary troubles in my life to achieve an eternal glory – to form Christ in me, for I know that my present sufferings are nothing in comparison to what awaits me (Pause and reflect on this)!
And as I wait for that day,
may I truly fix my eyes on Jesus (I choose to turn my gaze to You, Lord)…
throw off everything that hinders me (I turn from destructive habits and self-focused living)…
and I chose to run with perseverance, the race that You have marked out for me (I submit to Your plans. Increase my strength and determination Lord).
Help me Jesus to stand firm in faith as I wait for You. Amen.

Monday
Father, make ECB to be a community of faith that truly lives by the Spirit and keeps in step with the Spirit. May we not in any way put out the Spirit’s fire, but rather, fan into flame the gift of God that is in us (Galatians 5:25: 1 Thessalonians 5:19; 2 Timothy 1:6)!
Increase our boldness in speaking Your Word, Father, and confirm Your Word among us with signs and wonders, that You, Lord Jesus, might be exalted and the unbelieving come to faith (Acts 4:29-30)!
Father, may our eyes be continually fixed on Jesus, and may we walk in the freedom that He has provided for us (Hebrews 12:2; Romans 8:2). Keep us from returning to sinful patterns of behaviour.

Tuesday
Father, I ask that You strengthen us to endure hardship as your loving discipline in our lives. Use the trials that we face, as we submit to You, to train us and make us holy (Hebrews 12:7-12).
Renew and transform our minds, and increase our hunger for Your Word (Romans 12:1-2).
May our eyes be fixed on what is unseen and eternal – increase our longing for heaven and for You – that earth would hold nothing that we desire (2 Corinthians 4:18; Psalm 73:25).

Wednesday
Prayer and Fasting Focus
May the power of the resurrection be lived out daily in our lives, Father (Pause and consider what this might look like – pray into what God reveals to your heart – pray for those you know by name)!
Father, may we as Your people, be those who are willing to go out into ‘deeper water’ with You. I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ, I ask for myself Lord – keep us from standing on the shore and passively listening and watching. May we enter into the life of Spirit and the work of Your Kingdom (Luke 5:1-11)!
Father, I ask that You give to us as Your people, the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we might know You better! Open the eyes of our hearts as we gather for House of Prayer, Father (Ephesians 1:17-18)!

Thursday
Father, I lift up our pastors to You (René Dekker, Steve Odera, Kevin Moua, Pablo Morales) and I pray that their zeal for You will increase. Accomplish in them and through them all that You have called them to do. May they not lean on their own understanding, but increasingly acknowledge You in all their ways. Make their path straight before them I pray (Romans 12:11; I Thessalonians 5:24; Proverbs 3:5-6).
May we, as Your people Father, be prepared for works of service, so that ECB will be built up and reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of Jesus. May we become increasingly mature in our faith, and attain the fullness of Christ! May we be built up in love, each of us doing our part as the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:13,16).
Pray that the ‘seeds’ of the Gospel that have been sown into this nation for decades and are dormant in the ground, will be watered by the Spirit, come forth and produce fruit.

Friday
May, we as Your people, not be lacking in zeal, but may our spiritual fervour in serving You increase! Strengthen us I pray, that we might be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer (Romans 12:10-11).
Father, deliver us from lust I pray, and purify our hearts until our greatest passion and desire is for You alone (Matthew 5:27-30).
Father, may we not give the enemy a foothold in our lives by holding onto anger (Ephesians 4:26; 4:2). Set us free from the need to be right. May our relationships be increasingly marked by humility.
Father, I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ who are entangled somehow in sin. I ask that they would receive a fresh glimpse of You watching for their return, and run into Your arms (Luke 15:20-24).

Saturday
Father, I ask that Your Word go forth tomorrow with great clarity. May it be as if each of us hears and receives the Word in our own languages. And may each of us put it into action in our lives (James 1:22).
May many be led to Jesus and Your love spread through the city of Bangkok through our lives. May Your favour rest upon us, Lord. Establish the work of our hands (Psalm 127:1; Psalm 51:18; Psalm 90:17).
Father, I pray for those among the ECB community who are new in their faith journey with You, and for those who are still seeking – increase their faith Father for salvation.
Father, I lift up to You those who teach our children. May Jesus be seen and heard in such a way, that our children long to know Him more.
