Prayer Guide 18 September 2022

Sunday

Before you begin, invite the Holy Spirit to search your heart.
Be careful to pray the prayer below, not just read it as words on a page.
Father, how thankful I am that because of Jesus, I have been grafted onto the tree of Your eternal family. Strengthen me to stay connected to You, that I might continue to stand by faith and remember Your great kindness toward me, poured out through Jesus Christ. May I live in awe of Your greatness and holiness.

I ask Father, for fresh vision and a better understanding of Your character – the Lion of Judah and The Lamb (Pause and meditate on God’s greatness, and His love and gentleness. Praise Him for who He is).

Forgive me, Father, for the waywardness of my heart. I confess that I am often misguided by my own self-serving purposes and lose sight of Your face. This day, I choose to turn and run to You! I ask for a fresh infilling of Your Holy Spirit that will transform my living and display Your glory to those who do not yet know You. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit, I pray (Pause and wait)!

Father, I do not want to be one who follows You half-heartedly or out of convenience. May I always stand firm and not allow anything to move me away from You, and give myself completely to Your purposes (Pause and consider what this might look like in your daily living. Commit these things to Jesus).

Thank You Father, for Your compassionate grace and mercy – thank You that You are slow to anger and abounding in love!

Your fatherly compassion for my frailty and Your patience with my weakness is beyond my ability to understand, but I thank You and praise Your holy name. Thank You, that the door into Your presence is always open, and Your invitation to return to intimate fellowship with You is always before me.

Today Father, this moment, I choose to enter in. Restore to me, I pray, the joy of Your salvation, and sustain me with a willing spirit, that Your glory might be displayed through my life. These things I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Monday

Father, I pray for those among us who have unbelieving spouses and prodigal children. (Pray for those you know of by name…) I ask that You encourage them by Your Spirit, and give them a sign of Your goodness, so that they do not grow weary or fall into unbelief while they wait on You. Empower my sisters and brothers to live out Christ in such a way that the hearts of their loved ones are drawn to You.

May our eyes be fixed on what is unseen and eternal – increase our longing for heaven and for You – that earth would hold nothing that we desire (2 Corinthians 4:18; Psalm 73:25). Smash the idols in our lives that we might love You only.

Tuesday

Father, I ask that those who come to ECB seeking answers about who You are and what it means to follow Jesus, will be drawn by the Holy Spirit to salvation. May each of us extend the welcome of Jesus to those around us, and may Jesus be so seen among us, that many will come to faith in Him. May there be salvation in Your house each week!

Father, may we not give the enemy a foothold in our lives by holding onto anger (Ephesians 4:26; 4:2). Set us free from the need to be right. May our relationships be increasingly marked by humility.

May we be a people who forgive others as You Lord, have forgiven us, and extend grace to one another freely (Matthew 10:18). May the unity of the Spirit increase among us.

Wednesday

Prayer and Fasting Focus
Father, may we, as Your people, be those who are willing to go out into ‘deeper water’ with You. I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ, I ask for myself Lord, keep us from standing on the shore and passively listening and watching. May we enter into the life of Spirit and the work of Your Kingdom (Luke 5:1-11)!

Regardless of difficulties and trials, I ask, Father, that You strengthen us so that we will not fear. Instead, may our confidence in You and who You are, increase and be evident in the way we live out our faith in front of those who do not yet know You (Psalm 27:3) (Pause and pray for those you know, by name, who are going through difficulties).

Father, for those among us who are unsure of the next step they should take, whether it is job related, or financial or relational – I ask that You instruct and teach my brothers and sisters in the way that they should go. Counsel and watch over them in the midst of uncertainty (Psalm 32:8) (Pray for those you know, by name).

Thursday

Father, I ask that You give to us as Your people, the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we might know You better! Open the eyes of our hearts, Father (Ephesians 1:17-18) (Pray this for those you know at ECB by name…)!

Pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ worldwide, who are facing persecution for their faith. Ask God to strengthen them by His Spirit. Pray that the Church of Jesus will grow and expand in spite of those who come against it.

I ask Father, that You keep us from worry and fretfulness because of developing world events. May we increasingly be those who trust in You, and do what is good – overcoming evil with loving good deeds. May Jesus be lived out through us in this way, I pray (Psalm 37:1, 3; Romans 12:21)!

Friday

So many among us, Father, have emotional wounds that need Your healing touch – they need a new song to sing. O God, in Your mercy, I ask that You lift them up and heal them (Psalm 40:2-3) (Pray for those you know by name, who are struggling under the weight of hurt and disappointment).

I ask, Father, that we would become a people who increasingly proclaim Your righteousness and speak of Your faithfulness. Make us loving, ‘Gospel-messengers’ I pray (Psalm 40:8-10).

Pray, that the ‘seeds’ of the Gospel that have been sown into this nation for decades and are dormant in the ground, will be watered by the Spirit, come forth, and produce fruit. Pray that righteousness will prevail in the nation of Thailand. Pray that the hearts of those in political positions, will be drawn to Jesus. Ask God to bring healing to this nation! Pray that Jesus will be revealed to the hearts of Thai people in dreams and visions and through the testimony of His Church.

Saturday

Father, prepare the hearts of Your people today to worship You tomorrow. Prepare my heart, I pray! Make our hearts ready for Your Word and may each of us come before you with songs of thanksgiving and joy!

Pray that God will raise up people from the ECB fellowship to serve in places of need within the ministries of our community of faith. Ask God how you might participate and use your gifts ministry in what He is doing at ECB.

Father, I ask that those who come to ECB seeking answers about who You are and what it means to follow Jesus, will be drawn by the Holy Spirit to salvation. May each of us extend the welcome of Jesus to those around us and may Jesus be so seen among us, that many will come to faith in Him. May there be salvation in Your house each week!
