Prayer Guide 11 December 2022

Sunday

Before you begin, meditate on this thought: ‘Christ in me, the hope of glory’.

Heavenly Father, how grateful I am, that because of my faith in Jesus, I have been given ‘fullness in Christ’ who is the head over every power and authority! How thankful I am that Christ is in me – the hope of glory! Thank You for the deposit of the Holy Spirit in my heart that bears witness of this.

Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit, I ask that you strengthen me to live as one whose life is hidden with Christ in You. May I set my heart on things above, not on earthly things, for surely Jesus, who is my life, will soon appear. Make me ready, Lord! Remind me continually, that Christ is all, and in all (Pause and ask the Holy Spirit to show you what things have captured your heart and taken Christ’s place as Lord of All in your life).

As one of Your chosen people, holy and dearly loved, may my life be clothed with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Help me to forgive others as You, Lord Jesus, have forgiven me. May Your peace rule in my heart (Pause and ask that greater evidence of the Holy Spirit would be seen in the way you live. Consider what areas of your life lack peace. Invite Jesus to rule over these. Ask Him to fill you with His peace).

This day I ask You

Wonderful Counsellor, that You open my heart and mind that I might understand in a deeper way the great mystery that Christ lives in my heart by faith. Reveal to me I pray the treasures that are found in Him.

Mighty God, as this truth lands on my heart and takes root, may Your power, the same power that raised Christ from the dead, that is in me, be lived-out in my life!

Everlasting Father, may my trust in You increase as I walk in this great truth – that Christ is in me, the Holy Spirit is mine, and You will never leave me or forsake me.

Prince of Peace, I ask that You guard my heart and mind and fill me with Your peace. For it is written that Your peace in not like what the world tries to give. This day I choose to not be troubled or afraid.

Father, I ask that You renew my mind according to the truth of Your Word that You are with me, You are for me, You are at work through me, and You are in me.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Emmanuel, Amen.

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for our community of faith

Father, may ‘first love passion’ for Jesus be restored in our fellowship – Revive us I pray (Psalm 85:6)!

May we, as Your people, stand firm and let nothing move us. May we always give ourselves fully to Your work. Encourage us, remind us, that our labour for You is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58) (Pray for those in our fellowship that you know of by name).

Father, transform us by the renewing of our minds that we might not be conformed any longer to the patterns of this world. May we become increasingly radical in our desire for holiness and guard our minds (Romans 12:1-2).

Tuesday

Father, protect us from the love of money. May we be increasingly content with what we have, knowing that You will never leave us – that You are our help and we need not fear (Hebrews 13:5-6).

As we head towards a new year, increase our determination to grow deeper in You. May our hunger for Your Word and our discipline in being students of the Word increase and Your Word dwell in our hearts with great richness.

You have said, Lord, that You will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask – Father, I ask! Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit! Pour out Your Spirit on my brothers and sisters in Christ at ECB! Revive us – change us! Conform us to the image of Jesus (Luke 11:11-13; Psalm 85:6; Romans 8:29)!

Wednesday

Prayer and Fasting Focus
Ask the Holy Spirit to direct your prayers and to bring specific ECB brothers and sisters to your mind as you pray.

Bring healing, Father, by the Holy Spirit, to the places of our lives that are still wounded and broken, and that keep us from walking in our true identity and authority. May the mystery of ‘Christ in us’ grab our hearts in new ways and empower the way we live. Pray for brothers and sisters you know by name.

Pray for the Church of Jesus Christ in our city during this Christmas Season. Ask God to anoint His Word with power as it is proclaimed through outreach events and services. Pray that the Church worldwide, will rise up and be true salt and light that Jesus might be clearly seen and proclaimed. Pray that spiritual harvest will come in!

As we gather on Sunday, visit us in fresh and powerful ways. May there be salvation in Your house and many turn their hearts to You!  Anoint and empower those who will lead us in worship by Your Spirit. May Jesus be clearly seen in all who greet and usher, who teach our children, who serve in any way. May all that we do give You glory, for You alone are worthy Lord!

Thursday

Father, I ask in Jesus’ name that You remove all spiritual blinders from our eyes. Open our hearts and minds to recognize the encroachment of sin in our lives. May we be radical in our pursuit of holiness.

Continually remind us, Father, that sharing with others is a pleasing sacrifice to You. May we be outwardly focused so we don’t become self-absorbed, but enable us by Your Spirit to extend mercy to people in every kind of need (Hebrews 13:16; Philippians 2:4; Jude 22-23).

I pray for our children and young people Father, and ask You to strengthen them to stand firm in their faith and make a difference for Your Kingdom in their respective schools. Protect them from the evil one and may they follow You all the days of their lives (John 15:17).

Friday

Give us ‘God-sized’ dreams for the ministry that you wish to accomplish through us. Forgive our lack of faith, and embolden us to be risk-takers for the sake of Your Kingdom (Hebrews 11:1, 6)!

Father, I ask that we as Your people might be increasingly known for our lavish love and forgiveness of one another. Keep us from pride that kills the work of Your Spirit and hardens our hearts to Your voice calling us to ‘run home’ to You. Give to us I pray, the gift of brokenness and repentance. May we be clothed in humility (Luke 15:11-32; 1 Peter 5:5).

Pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ worldwide, who are facing persecution for their faith. Ask God to strengthen them by His Spirit. Pray that the Church of Jesus will grow and expand in spite of those who come against it.

Saturday

Show us Lord, show me, where I am still withholding my heart from You (Psalm 51:6).

Father, grow us into a deeper fellowship and community through the ministry of LIFE Groups, that we might be unified by Your Holy Spirit. May every Christmas gathering be blessed with the presence of the Holy Spirit and many drawn to Jesus!

May each of us come before you tomorrow with songs of thanksgiving and joy! Pour out Your Spirit on us as we gather and change us into a people that is conformed to the image of Jesus!

I ask, Lord, that You give us a hunger for Your Word. Push us deeper I pray, that we might leave the elementary teachings of Christ and go to maturity (Hebrews 6:1).

Father, may we be found faithful in giving ourselves fully to Your work (1 Corinthians 15:58).
