Prayer Guide 22 January 2023

Sunday

Lord Jesus, You said that in this world I will have trouble, but that I should take heart, for You have overcome the world! Hallelujah!

You are greater than all of my fears O Lord.

You are more powerful than all the powers of darkness that wage war against my soul!

You alone are God – may Your name be great and proclaimed loudly in and through my life!

Forgive me Lord, for the times that I do lose heart, and I am overcome by the world! Instead Father, give me eyes to see that my momentary troubles are achieving for me an eternal glory that will far outweigh every difficulty that I face!  May I be found worshipping You, in the midst of the obstacles, challenges and trials of this life. Remind me constantly, by Your Spirit, that I am not home yet.

Empower me to persevere and endure hardships in my life for the sake of Your name and the formation of Your character in me. I long to trust in You completely and worship you continuously – even in the middle of the storms of life. (Pause and commit present situations and trials to Jesus. Ask that your faith be strengthened that you might persevere with joy)

May the trials I face, teach me to obey Your Word, that my faith be proved genuine and result in praise, glory and honour to You, Jesus. I confess that You alone are God, there is no other, and I trust in Your name alone to save me. (Pause and slowly repeat the last sentence again, taking to heart what you are saying to God)

Thank You, Father, that even the darkness that seems to engulf me at times, is as light to You. Help me to rest in You the midst of difficulty and submit to You, that I might be able to resist the evil one and the ways he tries to steal Your blessing and joy in my life.

And so right now, I choose to submit myself to You alone, and stand against the schemes of the enemy in Jesus Name. I ask that Your discipline in my life produce a harvest of holiness. Yes, Lord, work all things together for my good, for I love You.

Make me like Your Son, I ask this in His Name. Amen.

Monday

Father, transform us by the renewing of our minds, that we might not be conformed any longer to the patterns of this world. May we become increasingly radical in our desire for holiness and guard our minds (Romans 12:1-2).

Father, I lift up to You those who are sick and struggling physically among us. Pour out Your healing on them I pray. (Pray for those you know of by name who are sick)

Tuesday

Father, the earth is Yours, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it, belong to You (Psalm 24:1)! Thailand belongs to You, Father! Bangkok is Yours, Father! And Thai people are Your inheritance! This day,
I pray that Your Name will be exalted in this nation. Pour out Your Holy Spirit and reveal Yourself to the hearts of the people of this country, through dreams and visions, and through Your Church. Use us, I pray – use me, as a conduit of Your great love and compassion. May the love of Jesus be evident in my every word, in my countenance and actions. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit and empower me to be salt and light in the midst of darkness this day. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Ask God to give to each of us, creative ways to live out Jesus to our Thai neighbours and friends, that in spite of language barriers, Jesus might be proclaimed. Pray that a Gospel witness will grow in your neighbourhood! Pray for divine appointments. Ask God to increasingly make us bold and ready to give the reason for the hope that we have, with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).

Wednesday

Prayer and Fasting Focus
Before you begin, pause and ask for a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit. Be still and wait on the Lord.

Father, may we truly hate what is evil and cling to what is good. Destroy every deed of darkness among us and may we put on the armour of light, clothing ourselves with Jesus only! Reveal the hidden things Father! Purify us and make us holy (Romans 12:9; 13:12-14)!

Surround us with Your favour, Lord, and establish the work of our hands for the sake of Your Kingdom. (Psalm 5:12; 90:17) (Pause and pray for those you know of by name from ECB who serve among us. Ask God to pour out the Holy Spirit on them and give them ‘kingdom impact’ in their sphere of influence)

Father, may we as Your people be those who are willing to go out into ‘deeper water’ with You. I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ, I ask for myself Lord, keep us from standing on the shore and passively listening and watching. May we enter into the life of the Holy Spirit and the work of Your Kingdom (Luke 5:1-11)!

Thursday

May we as Your people, stand firm and let nothing move us. May we always give ourselves fully to Your work. Encourage us, remind us, that our labour for You is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). (Pray for those in our fellowship that you know of by name)

May our eyes be fixed on what is unseen and eternal – increase our longing for heaven and for You, Lord – that earth would hold nothing that we desire (2 Corinthians 4:18; Psalm 73:25).  Smash the idols in our lives that we might love You only.

Ask God to pour out His Spirit on His Church in the country that you are from.   Pray that the message of the cross–salvation through Jesus only, will be preached with boldness, ushering in a great harvest.

You have said Lord, that Your house is to be a ‘house of prayer for all nations’. Father, teach us to pray at ECB, to really enter into a deeper longing for you – greater faith, greater fervency. Make us to be a true house of prayer (Mark 11:17).

Friday

Lord Jesus, help us to abide in You, that we as Your people, might bear spiritual fruit and by doing so, show that we are truly Your disciples (John 15:5-8).  Allow us, I pray, to see harvest come in, and souls come to know Jesus!

Father, I praise Your holy name and I confess that the Kingdom and the power and the glory are Yours alone! The earth is Yours and all who live in it! – You are the One True God, creator of all things, and I will worship no other. May You alone be worshiped and adored by Your people (2 Chronicles 29:10-13; Isaiah 40:28; Psalm 24:1)!

Pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ worldwide, who are facing persecution for their faith. Ask God to strengthen them by His Spirit. Pray that the Church of Jesus will grow and expand in spite of those who come against it.

Saturday

May those who come tomorrow who do not yet know You, be drawn to You, and O God, pour out Your Holy Spirit on us! Renew us! Revive us! Change Us! Holy Spirit fall fresh on ME!

Make our hearts ready for the seed of Your Word, and may each of us come before you with songs of thanksgiving and joy! Pour out Your Spirit on us as we gather and change us into a people that is conformed to the image of Jesus!

Father, I ask that we as Your people, might be increasingly known for our lavish love and forgiveness of one another. Keep us from pride that kills the work of Your Spirit and hardens our hearts to Your voice calling us to ‘run home’. Give to us I pray, the gift of brokenness and repentance.  May we be clothed in humility (Luke 15:11-32; 1 Peter 5:5).
