Prayer Guide 12 February 2023

Sunday

Before you begin, sit quietly before the Lord. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to your mind, the names of fellow believers at ECB. Pray God’s blessing on their lives.

Father, You have commanded me in Your Word, that if I love You, I must also love my brother, but I confess to you now, that often I find this difficult to do.  I would say with my mouth that I love my brothers and sisters in Christ, but in reality, I too often choose to live disconnected from them. I have not shared in their burdens, or demonstrated love for them. Forgive me Lord (Pause and confess those things the Holy Spirit lays on your heart…).

You’ve said that the way we love one another within the community of faith, is how the world will know that we belong to You. I confess that my witness has been tarnished because of my lack of love for Your Church. Forgive me I pray (Pause and pray further…).

I ask that my love for my brothers and sisters would increase more and more and be lived-out in my actions. For if I do not love my brother who I can see, I cannot love You, Who I cannot see. I ask You to bring healing to the damaged relationships in my life, and I especially pray for… (Pray for those the Holy Spirit brings to mind…) I ask You to empower me by Your Spirit to let go of offenses, disappointment and hurt that I’ve experienced. This day, I choose the pathway of forgiveness and peace (Pause and commit yourself to these things.).

You have said that love is patient and kind, it does not envy or boast, it isn’t arrogant or rude, selfish or easily provoked. It does not keep record of wrong, or rejoice in unrighteousness. Father, give me this kind of love for my brothers and sisters in Christ! Give me radical love for Your church, that I might increasingly bear all things, believe all things – always assume the best, hope all things, and endure all things. Keep my love from failing.

May I practice lavish love in this faith community, so that I may live out Your love in the world that has yet to know You. May my life be rooted and established in love. As You have lavishly loved me, may I in turn love others and spur my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus on toward even greater love and good deeds.

In all things, Lord, may I be found worthy of bearing the Name of Christ, and determined to live-out the debt of love I owe.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Monday

Father, I ask that we as Your people, might be increasingly known for our lavish love and forgiveness of one another. Keep us from pride that kills the work of Your Spirit and hardens our hearts to Your voice calling us to ‘run home’ to You. Give to us I pray, the gift of brokenness and repentance. May we be clothed in humility (Luke 15:11-32; 1 Peter 5:5).

May we as Your people, praise You, O God. May all of us praise You, that the land in which we live might yield its harvest and we might experience Your great blessing (Psalm 67:5-6).

Tuesday

Lord Jesus, I ask that Your healing power rest upon those among us who are struggling physically. May sickness and disease be gone in Your mighty name (Pray for those you know of by name…)!

Strengthen marriage relationships among us, Lord, and may my single brothers and sisters be empowered to walk in purity. Make us strong in You, I pray.

Ask God to pour out His Spirit on His Church in the country that you are from. Pray for pastors that you know, by name, that they will be revived and preach the Word boldly. Pray for spiritual harvest.

Wednesday

Prayer and Fasting Focus
May we as Your people, not be lacking in zeal, but may our spiritual fervour in serving You increase! Strengthen us I pray, that we might be joyful in hope (pause and pray for those who are waiting on God for answers to prayer…), patient in affliction (pause and pray for those who are experiencing trials of every kind…), and faithful in prayer (Pause and pray that we will increasingly become people of prayer…) (Romans 12:11-12).

Father, I pray for those who come to ECB seeking answers about who You are and what it means to follow Jesus, that they will be drawn by the Holy Spirit to salvation. May each of us extend the welcome of Jesus to those around us, and may Jesus be so seen among us, that many will come to faith in Him. May there be salvation in Your house this Sunday! Open the eyes of the spiritually blind (2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 1:17-18)!

Lord Jesus, be exalted among us as we gather and worship, as we meet in homes, at our places of work, school and play. Be exalted, be glorified in our conversations, in the choices that we make, and the places we go. Whether we eat or drink or whatever it is that we might do. May we always be mindful that we belong to You, and do it all for Your glory (1 Corinthians 10:31)!

Thursday

Thank You, Father, for the nation of Thailand, for the freedom that I enjoy here and the privilege of living in this beautiful land. I thank You for those who You have placed in governmental authority, and ask this day that Your blessing would rest on them. Draw their hearts to Your heart, I pray. Give them wisdom, that they might rule justly. May righteousness flow like a river through this land, O God, and darkness be pushed back in Jesus mighty name! May every scheme of evil be thwarted – confuse the plans of the wicked, I pray! I lift up the King to You Father, and I ask that You would strengthen him this day. You have said, Father, that the King’s heart is in Your hand, and You direct it as You please (Proverbs 21:1) – direct His heart to You! I ask that You pour out Your Holy Spirit on all flesh in this nation, Father, and make Your Church ready for the harvest that is coming! Be glorified in this nation, I pray, for it belongs to You (Psalm 24:1). In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen

Friday

I pray for my brothers and sisters at ECB, Lord, and ask that we might all ‘run the race’ in such a way as to be found worthy of the prize (1 Corinthians 9:27). May our daily living display Christ in greater and greater clarity, and the imprint of Jesus be left in our wake.

Increase our boldness in speaking Your Word, Father, and confirm Your Word among us with signs and wonders, that You Lord Jesus might be exalted and the unbelieving come to faith (Acts 4:29-30)!

Jesus, You said that we are to make disciples of all nations – show us this way! Surely, You have put us here in Bangkok at this point in time for Your plans and purposes – may we as Your people, enter in with joy to all that You have for us. Increase the harvest among us! May many come to Jesus! And yes Lord, give us the nations (Matthew 28:19)!

Saturday

May we enter Your gates with thanksgiving and Your courts with praise tomorrow, for You are good, O Lord, and greatly to be praised (Psalm 100)!

Father, You have said that the sacrifices that You are looking for are a broken spirit and contrite heart. Destroy pride among us Lord and give to us the gift of repentance I pray (Psalm 51:16-17).

Open the eyes of our hearts, and reveal the hidden things, for You have said that You desire truth in our inmost parts. Show us, Lord, show me, where I am still withholding my heart from You (Ephesians 1:18; Job 28:11;
Psalm 51:6).

Father, make ECB to be a community of faith that truly lives by the Spirit and keeps in step with the Spirit. May we not in any way put out the Spirit’s fire, but rather, fan into flame the gift of God that is in us (Galatians 5:25:
1 Thessalonians 5:19; 2 Timothy 1:6)!

Renew us! Revive us! Change Us! Holy Spirit fall fresh on ME!
