Prayer Guide 05 November 2023
Sunday
Father, help me to truly revere You, for Your Word says that this is the beginning of knowledge.
Forgive me, Father, for when I have treated Your Word casually or Your ways as optional, or Your name as common (Pause and pray further as the Holy Spirit leads you).
Give me a fresh glimpse of Your glory, I pray, and help me to live in awe of You.
Increase my desire for Your Word that by the Holy Spirit and the power of Your Word, I might be moved beyond elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity and the solid food of Your Word. May I use your Word constantly in my daily living and so train myself to distinguish good from evil (Pause and ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to weave the Word of God into more of your daily living).
May my love abound in my knowledge of You, so that I will increasingly be able to discern what is best and be found pure and blameless until the day of Christ. Fill me with knowledge of Your will and give me spiritual wisdom and understanding. I ask this that I might live a life worthy of You and please You in every way.
I know that I lack wisdom, and so I ask, Father, give me Your wisdom, I pray (Pause and ask for His wisdom in specific situations that you are facing)! Help me, that as I hear Your Word, I might put it into practice in my life, and be increasingly wise in all I do.
I want to know You more, Lord Jesus. I ask, in Your name, that my desire and hunger for the Word increase and that my longing to be in Your presence overwhelm me until I am satisfied with nothing else. May the convicting power of the Holy Spirit fall on me, showing me where my life remains untouched by You, renewing my mind, transforming my living (Pause and confess those things the Holy Spirit brings to your mind).
I submit to You O God, Your ways and Your Word, and I ask that You strengthen me to adjust my living in order to pursue You with greater passion. With my whole heart I would seek You, O God.
I ask these things in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

Monday
Father, I ask in Jesus’ name, that the nations of the earth would be blessed through our community of faith. Expand our territory, I pray. May we be part of global Gospel-witness (Galatians 3:8-9).
Father, may we truly hate what is evil and cling to what is good. Destroy every deed of darkness among us. May we put on the armour of light, clothing ourselves with Jesus only! Reveal the hidden things, Father! Purify us and make us holy (Romans 12:9; 13:12-14)!
In Jesus’ name, I ask that the broken hearted among our community of faith be healed. Comfort those who mourn, Father. May beauty, gladness and praise be poured out on their lives, displacing all despair (Isaiah 61:1-3).

Tuesday
This day, Father, may I and my brothers and sisters in Christ, live before others as those who are clothed in Christ. May nothing that we say or do tarnish the testimony of Jesus (Galatians 3:27).
Father, may the world know that we belong to You by the way that we love one another. May the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace increase in our fellowship (Ephesians 4:2-3). Help us to be completely humble and gentle with one another, and to bear with one another in love (Ephesians 4:2-3).
Father, I pray for our pastors, elders and Ministry Heads, those who You have placed over us, and I ask that You give to them wisdom and discernment from heaven as they watch over the flock of ECB. Strengthen them with joy in Your presence, I pray.

Wednesday
Prayer and Fasting Focus
Strengthen us to stand firm in the freedom that we have in Christ Jesus. Make us aware of the ways that the enemy is deceiving us and causing us to live as slaves, rather than sons and daughters (Galatians 5:1, 4:6-7).
Father, I ask that by Your Holy Spirit, new songs of praise and worship be written on our hearts. May we become a people who increasingly rejoice in our salvation and give You the glory that is due Your name! Fill us with joy in Your presence as we worship in our everyday living, and when we gather as the community of faith (Psalm 51:12; 96:8).
Father, I ask in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that every curse and assignment of the enemy that has come against Your people, be crushed. Be the “wall of fire around us and the glory within” us, O God (Zechariah 2:5)!
Ask God to raise up people from our community of faith to enter into all areas of ministry, that ministry might expand, and we be able to participate in greater Kingdom-impact! Ask God how you might offer your gifts and resources.

Thursday
Teach us, Father, to serve one another in love. Destroy, by the work of the Holy Spirit among us, any gossip or discord, and all jealousy that is in our midst (Galatians 5:13-15, 19-21).
May we increasingly trust in You Lord in every area of our living, and put our confidence in You alone. May we become like trees planted by water, and never fear when things become difficult. May we always draw from You, our Living Water, and never fail to bear spiritual fruit (Jeremiah 17:7-8; John 7:38).
Father, may spiritual vitality be renewed in our daily living, and all passivity and apathy cast out in Jesus’ name. Father, make us to be a people who live out the power of the resurrection (Ephesians 1:18-20)!
I pray for those in our fellowship who are young in their faith, and ask that You protect them from the evil one. May their faith increase.

Friday
Heavenly Father, may the fruit of the Spirit increase among us in all of its fullness. May we live lives that are full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. In all conversations, relationships and situations may the Holy Spirit use us to make Jesus known (Galatians 6:22-23).
Father, may the children and students of our fellowship grow strong in You and in Your mighty power. Protect them from the evil one and go before them into this new school year (Ephesians 6:10; John 17:15).
It is written, that we should not “misuse the name of the Lord our God, for You will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses Your name”. Father, in a world that continually swears by Your name without any thought, protect our hearts, minds and mouths by Your Holy Spirit, that we might honour Your name as we ought (Deuteronomy 5:11).
Lord Jesus, I ask in Your most mighty name, that Your rule and reign be established over the nations of the world. Empower Your Church around the world to be salt and light – revive us, I pray. Encourage pastors, open spiritual doors that have been shut! Reveal Yourself to the peoples of the earth, that whole villages, towns, even cities, would come to know You!

Saturday
In Jesus’ Mighty name I ask, Father, that we would be followers of Jesus who live by the Spirit and keep in step with the Spirit. May the sinful nature in each of us truly be crucified I pray (Galatians 5:24-25)!
Pray for our brothers and sisters worldwide who are being persecuted for their faith in Christ. Ask God to raise up a standard against the evil that comes against them. Pray that they will be strengthened to stand firm.
May our times of personal and corporate worship be infused with fresh Spirit-life I pray. Teach us to worship You in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24).
May we, from youngest to oldest become those who do not just hear the Word, but be those who do what it says (James 1:22). May we joyfully walk in Your ways.
