Prayer Guide 29 December 2019

Sunday

Connecting my heart to the heart of the Father
Father, I ask this day that like Nehemiah, You break my heart for what breaks Your heart. Forgive me for being blind or insensitive to the spiritual condition of Your Church and the world around me. Move me, I pray, to deeper prayer and action. Help me to love what You love.

You are great and awesome, Father, and You keep Your covenant of love with those who love You and obey Your Word. Hear me as I pray for Your Church, O Lord, for we are Your people and we bear Your name.

I confess Lord, that we, including myself and my father’s house, have sinned against You – we have not obeyed Your Word (Pause before the Lord and ask for humility to repent).

We have watered down the truth of Your Word in order to condone our sin.

O God, have mercy on Your Church and forgive Your people. Forgive me, I pray. We have loved the world and the things of the world. We are idolaters. O God have mercy on Your Church and forgive Your people. Forgive me, I pray. We have gratified desires of the sinful nature that are contrary to Your Word. O God, have mercy on Your Church and forgive Your people. Forgive me, I pray.

Give us pure hearts, and renew a steadfast spirit within us, that Your Church might arise and be true salt and light in this dark and tasteless world. Revive Your Church I pray, in this nation and in the nations of the world, pour out the Holy Spirit in revival visitations! For the sake of the harvest that is yet to come in, fill us with first-love passion for Jesus and shake us from our sleep (Pause and pray for the Church in the nation you are from)!

Father, You have been faithful to us in the past. Now we look to the future which you have ordained for us. May it be increasingly apparent to those around us, around me, that You are our God and Your favour rests upon us. May the world see You in us, and give You glory.

Surely You are coming soon Lord Jesus. May your Church be made ready – make me ready Lord! – Maranatha! Even so come quickly Lord Jesus! In Your name I pray. Amen.
Nehemiah 1:4-11; 1 John 2:15; Galatians 5:16; Psalm 51:12; Colossians 4:6; Revelation 2:4; Matthew 5:16; Matthew 25:1-13

Monday

Praying the heart of the Father for the ECB Faith Community
Father, help us as Your people to learn to walk humbly with You. Give us the gift of tears I pray as a sign that You are softening our hearts. Fill us with fresh passion for You and a hunger for holiness, that we would truly become those who seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Reveal to us I pray, the things that keep us from truly drawing near to You (Psalm 119:2; Matthew 6:33).

Renew our minds, I pray. May we as Your people turn from the philosophies and entertainment of the world and truly think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy – may this be the standard for what we allow into our minds and hearts (Philippians 4:8).

Tuesday

Revive and restore every faltering heart. I pray for my brothers and sisters who are wandering in their faith journey, who are weary or confused or have somehow lost their way. Restore the joy of their salvation to them I pray! Call them back (Psalm 80: 18-19; 51:12).

We praise You Father, for all the things that You have done among us – it is marvellous in our eyes! May we become a people who increasingly learn the discipline of giving thanks in all circumstances, for this is Your will for us. May praise and thanksgiving overwhelm us (Psalm 118:23; 1 Thessalonians 5:18) (Pause and thank God for all that you see Him doing among our community of faith)!

Wednesday

ECB Prayer and Fasting Focus
Wednesdays have been set aside as a day of prayer and fasting for the ministries of ECB and to ask God for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit among us. You are invited to join in praying and fasting during one or all meals, or from something that is important to you. To receive a weekly Prayer and Fasting e-mail, please contact [email protected]
Before you begin, ask God to create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you. Repent of those things that the Holy Spirit brings to mind…

Father, I ask that You breathe new Spirit-life into the ECB community of faith. May revival visitations of the Holy Spirit fall on us, change us, renew us, I pray (Ezekiel 37:5)! May we not resist the Holy Spirit in any way.

Father, pour out the gifts of the Spirit and strengthen us as Your people to serve. May there be no lack in any area of ministry at ECB, but may we increasingly use the gifts that You have given us to serve one another. Build us up Father – strengthen us by the Holy Spirit, I pray (Pray for those you know by name, who serve in areas of ministry that you are connected to)!

Father, may we be faithful in declaring Your greatness and power to the next generation. Forgive us for being silent or intimidated. Open our mouths that we might always recount Your goodness to those around us!

(Psalm 71:17-18; 78:4-6) (Pause and remember how God has provided, rescued, intervened – in your life. Thank Him for His goodness to you. Share your story with someone!)

Thursday

Father, give us ‘God-sized’ dreams for the ministries that You wish to accomplish through us. Forgive our lack of faith, and embolden us to be risk-takers for the sake of Your kingdom (Hebrews 11:1,6)!

Lord Jesus, You are the Word made flesh, the living Word of God. May we live our lives in submission to You. As Your people, may Your Word be our only true standard for living. Give to each of us, a fresh hunger for Your Word (John 1:14; Hebrews 4:12)!

Protect and strengthen marriage relationships in our fellowships, Father. May husbands and wives live-out the love of Jesus in their homes and consider one another’s needs more important than their own (Philippians 2:1-4).

Friday

As a community of faith, may we increasingly be those who bless with our mouths, who seek and pursue peace with one another. May we love as brothers and be compassionate and humble towards one another (1 Peter 3:8-12). May our eyes be fixed on what is unseen and eternal – increase our longing for heaven and for You – that earth would hold nothing that we desire. Smash the idols in our lives that we might love You only (2 Corinthians 4:18; Psalm 73:25).

Father, give us hearts that are fully committed to You. Destroy all double-mindedness, doubt and unbelief in our hearts. May faith, hope and trust in You, well-up within our hearts (2 Chronicles 16:9; James 1:6-7). Father, I pray that those who are leading LIFE Groups will be empowered and anointed by Your Holy Spirit. Fill them with great joy and establish the work of their hands (Psalm 90:17) (Pray for your LIFE Group leader by name)!

Saturday

Remember us O God, that we are Your people – the people of Your pasture and the flock under Your care. Gather us in Your arms and carry us close to Your heart I pray (Psalm 95:7; Isaiah 40:11) (Pause and pray for those among us who need to receive the embrace of their heavenly Father’…).

May those who lead us in worship be empowered by Your Spirit, those who come tomorrow who do not yet know You, be drawn to You, and O God, pour out Your Holy Spirit on us! Renew us! Revive us! Change Us! May Your Word go forth with power and anointing by the Holy Spirit and accomplish all that you intend.

Give us ears to hear what the Spirit would say to Your Church. Make our hearts ready to receive the Word. Make my heart ready to hear and obey (Pause and commit yourself to receive the Word, and do what it says)!
