Serve

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
(1 Corinthians 12:27)

There are three parts to engaging the faith community of ECB – all three parts are equally critical:  exaltation, edification and education.

Edification takes place when believers come together like Jesus, “not to be served, but to serve…” (Mark 10:45).  Take a look at the listings on the right hand panel and ask yourself about how you might find your life by giving it away.  Serve God by serving others at ECB.  Please prayerfully consider how you might use your spiritual gifts and be part of the building-up of our community of faith.

Contact the ECB office for more information on how you can get involved.

Care Team

The ECB CARE Team provides practical, physical and financial assistance to support spiritual needs, to both those within and outside the church.

Philosophy
The ECB CARE Team exists to assist the deacons and other church members with their Scriptural responsibilities to care for people in need both within ECB (our local church) and outside the local church (Proverbs 14:31; Acts 6:1-7; Galatians 6:9-10; Hebrews 13:1-3, 16; James 1:27).

As much as it is possible, we desire to give people “help that helps” and not “help that hurts.”  In other words, while we want to be caring, compassionate, and generous with those in need, we also want to try to ensure that both the short-term and long-term effects of our assistance are positive in the lives of those who receive help from us.  We must exercise discernment and seek wisdom from God and one another as we are called upon to help others (Proverbs 19:20, 20:18; James 1:5).

We want to allow people in need to have a part in providing solutions to their own problems (II Kings 4:1-7).  We do not want to take away the dignity of anyone who seeks us out or is recommended to us by others for assistance.  We do not want our assistance to them to cause them to become unduly dependent on us or others (I Thessalonians 4:11-12).

Whenever possible, we will partner with other churches, para-church organizations, NGOs, or government institutions when they have greater means or expertise than we have that would help any given person in need.  When possible, we will refer people in need to other Christian organizations and/or ministries that may also be able to assist them either in the short-term or long-term.

Goals and Objectives
  • Provide prayer, care, assistance, and/or support (in-kind, financial, referral, etc.) to those we are able to help
  • Be wise stewards of the CARE Team budget, in order to help as many in need as possible, beginning with the household of faith
  • Provide a variety of support and assistance measures
  • Transparency of methods and procedures to all stakeholders
  • Timely responses to those in need
  • Inspire and involve our church community to personally reach out to those in various kinds of need in our midst
  • Assess the needs of those asking for assistance

CrossTown Children’s Ministry

Running a children’s ministry takes a lot of people, and we are in need of more volunteers! There are many ways to serve. We need small group leaders, greeters, worship leaders, storytellers, technicians, nursery workers, prep people and more!

For more information on how you can get involved in CrossTown, please email [email protected].

Koinonia/Welcome Team

Koinonia (pronounced “koy-no-KNEE-ah”) = the fellowship of Christian community

The primary goal of the Koinonia Ministry and our great desire is to extend the ‘welcome of Jesus’ to everyone who comes onto our campus so that both regular attenders and visitors begin to connect to one another and feel at home. Presently this happens primarily through meeting and greeting people in the fellowship area in the lower level in between and after services. However, we are hopeful that very soon we will be able to expand this ministry to include welcoming and helping people at the end of our soi as they make use of the van service to ECB, and also receive them at ECB when they arrive.

There are also ‘ECB family’ events, services and fellowship times where we need people present to make sure that the needs of all are taken care of and people are greeted warmly.
There are an increasing number of events being housed in our facility by outside groups, and we need welcomers for these as well, to lovingly extend hospitality on behalf of ECB.

So if you enjoy meeting and interacting with people, and love to make others feel welcome, this is the ministry for you! Our intentionality in extending the love of Jesus as we gather on Sunday’s especially is one way of offering hospitality to one another (1 Peter 4:9) – and we would love for you to be a part of this team!

For more information about how to involved in the Koinonia ministry, please contact the Koinonia Team.

LIFE Group Leaders

LIFE Groups at ECB are smaller expressions of our corporate gatherings, where we welcome one another, worship together, apply the Word which we received on the previous Sunday and work together to see the kingdom of Christ established, and pray together. Serving as a LIFE Group leader means modeling and facilitating life in community.

More than planning weekly meetings, a LIFE Group leader works to facilitate ongoing connections within the group that allow us to share the life of Christ together betweenmeetings. In so doing, Christians are better prepared to credibly give away this life to pre-Christian people.

If you have a passion for seeing people “take hold of the life that is truly life” (1 Timothy 6:19) by living in community in Christ and sharing that community with a lost world, then please indicate your willingness by e-mailing LIFE Groups. Present involvement in ECB LIFE Group ministry is a prerequisite.

Remember, in Christ’s Kingdom, leadership is measured not by how much you know, but by how well you serve (Luke 22:24-27).

Celebration Arts

There are many creative and talented people from different nations at ECB who have a passion for worship.  If you can sing, dance, play an instrument, or are skilled in media, or art and would like to share your gifts with ECB, we would love to hear from you.

The ECB Celebration Arts Ministry will help you to grow in your gifts and will seek to provide you opportunities to mature in your worship of God, as you draw others into His presence. Please follow the links below to complete the application form to join the music and arts ministry at ECB.

Student Ministry

We love hanging out with each other, so every Friday during the school year, we have what we call Exchange. Exchange is a youth oriented gathering time where we hang out, worship together, pray and learn about following Jesus. Food, fun and fellowship are always part of Exchange!
